This sounds so bad...

Mmmmm fat quarters.
They sound deliciouuuus.
I have a bunch of sellers flagged as favourites on etsy who sell fat quarters.

This place is specifically for quilting and they sell pre-cut squares too!

Uhnnnn I hadn't realized what a whore I was for printed fabric. Lots of Amy Butler stuff in there. As soon as I finish selling some stuff and make my boxer shorts (next project!) I'm buying the stuff to make quilt. I want something bright and cheerful!

They're the perfect size to make kanzashi, because you can make several and then run out of fabric before you get seriously bored with that pattern. XD

*checks links* Oooooh, pretty! :D Omiyage pouches and kanzashi ahoy! :D

*tags with 'kanzashi' to find the links later*

specifically, quilt-making fabric in approximately 18x22" lengths, and with only one selvage, versus a regular quarter, which is approximately 9"x44" with two selvages.

Good to know the difference: as I'm using them for non-quilting things, I hadn't the slightest idea what it was. :D

Yeah, it's a half-yard cut in two along the middle. Which makes a much better shape for laying out templates than a long skinny full-width quarter yard, so that's how they always sell pre-cut swatches for quilting. (Just picked out nine fat quarters to help make an Asian-style bed throw...)

And, as a quilter, I read your initial sentence and said, "Gee, I wish I could go too" before I realized the point you were trying to make :-)

:D

I'd never been to this shop (http://cabbagerosequilting.com/) before, and found it to be fairly large for a neighborhood shop, and packed to the gills with quilting fabric and supplies. I'm making kanzashi instead of quilting, but I had the urge to quilt just walking through the place. XD

Remnants would probably be good too.
