Favor to ask...
...of those people who like writing postcards.
If you'd rather not know something that's going to be in the Yuuko box I auctioned off for
livelongnmarry, then DON'T CLICK THE CUT. But if you think you might want to participate in it, go ahead...
I'm starting (slowly, slowly!) to assemble the Yuuko box and I'd like to include a small collection of postcards from various places with ... let's say they're each a memory that the writer is giving up in payment for something from Yuuko's shop. They're not written to Yuuko, they're regular postcards with a short message from someone to a friend or family member, but they'll be bundled together with a tag explaining the significance. The memories can be large and important, or small, daily ones, mundane, prosaic, or supernatural. If you have questions, ask away. (ETA: Slightly better explanation here.)
If you think you'd be interested in contributing, I'd need to receive the postcard(s) before the end of the month. Post and let me know if you'll be sending one, so I can both look out for it, and so I can give you my address. :D
ETA: When it comes to the Address Question as brought up in this comment, the answer is: Do what you will! :)
---
For those who don't read xxxHolic: Yuuko is the proprietor of a Mysterious Shop [tm] who grants people's wishes ... often in unexpected ways. The warning that you should be careful what you wish for is to be well heeded! She accepts payment in keeping with what her service is worth - it could be an object, or a memory, or, well, anything whose value matches the value of what the client received.

I'll post my address in a screened comment, so you'll get it in LJ notification. If you don't get it, let me know and I'll email it.

One of them, which breaks my heart a little, was sent from Dresden in 1904.

I'll do it ... the trouble is, they'll all be addressed to you ... . Do you want to fake this up by somehow obtaining something to use as a made-up postmark, and I can send you the postcard in an envelope, with a made-up address?

So the answer is: do what you will! (And I think you've got my current address, as I've received postcards here...)
Thank you!

OK. If I can find two different postcards, I'll see if I can get TYL to do one also, and send them both in an envelope. And we have a crazy selection of stamps around the house right now, so they can be stamped differently.

Also, I have an idea that could maybe get you some from other intersting places. I'll see what I can do.

As far as what I'm expecting ... it's sort of vague so I can see what people come up with, because I know that often they'll come up with something that I'd never have thought of. I'm envisioning that each of you guys sending me a postcard will come up with a character to write the postcard (nothing fancy, just a name, really) and write it from their POV to someone else the character knows, perhaps recounting an event from a trip, since postcards tend to be sent when travelling, but it doesn't have to be confined to vacations.* The conceit is that when they give the card to Yuuko, they've given up that memory in exchange for whatever she does for them, so they no longer have it.
Er, does that help any? I can attempt to blather more, if you'd like.
* My brain is apparently into either sappy romance of the musical Grease right now, since the only concrete example I can think of would be a quick recounting of a summer romance, which would vanish from the person's memory after their encounter with Yuuko. :/

(If that's the old address, plz. to email the new one? I don't have comment-notification-email turned on 'cause I can't bear the redundant clutter of seeing everything twice...)

Also, I was thinking of writing one of the postcards in Japanese if that's alright with you.
