(no subject)

I think I've just stumbled upon my favorite sentence construction for a random generator...

"So a hooker and a watchmaker walk into a bar..."

"So a scholar and someone who lives in a tree walk into a bar..."

"So a stolen child and a person who stays behind to make sure everyone gets out safe walk into a bar..."

"So an educated courtesan and a thief walk into a bar..."

"So an automaton with a heart of gold and a cowboy walk into a bar..."

"So a dissolute absinthe drinker and someone who doesn't need anyone or anything (until they do) walk into a bar..."

Also, some other good stories:

The story is about the ability of ordinary people to make and do and change things. Romance blossoms between a French woman and a governess, while difficulties they encounter include automated giant squid and loaning someone clothes.

Your story begins with a prim schoolteacher in the mysterious Orient. The antagonist is a siren who is motivated because they are under a curse that forces their actions. Plot elements include trying too hard to look cool and a daring velocipede ride.

A team of explorers consisting of an asylum, a short person who kicks tremendous ass, someone playing matchmaker, a damaged warrior, and a woman that everyone is scared of discover an artifact from the lamplight. Complications ensue, including the beach, treehouses, and vehicles in motion. [Obviously, I put "asylum" in the wrong category, but it's a hilarious image. XD]

It begins with a curator in an imperial culture. This person meets a swordsmith and together they encounter being lost and trying to get home and a clockwork butler. The story winds up in an historical setting and features comfort. The overall narrative is about the edge between civilization and the unknown.

Your story is a romance between a darkly Byronic anti-hero and a nun. The lovers experience a keen appreciation of hard work and craftsmanship and opium while in a desert.

People need to start writing these. I'm developing a major hankering to read this kind of thing. :P

Me, too. XD I had a hankering to start with, which made me create the thing, but now ... I want more!

These make me wonder if any publisher would be interested in an anthology based on prompts from a themed story generator.

Ooh, interesting idea! (Not that I'd have a clue with what to do about that. XD)

I want to read this.

I think the problem is personifying the asylum. XD

Oh, you say bug, I say feature. :D

That was one of my Cool Bits. (Er, I think it was mine, at least...)

[identity profile] dragonscholar.livejournal.com 2008-07-28 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
Well, you have MY thumbs-up that it looks cool ;)

Its quite good - and a steampunk loving friend of mine is thrilled with it.

(It makes me think I should revisit some of my story generators sometime, I could improve 'em).

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2008-07-28 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
Great! :D I suspect I'll be adding more elements as I steal them from various steampunk websites think of them, so hopefully it'll get even better. XD

Nice! I love the "So a..." bits. Sounds like a bad joke using puns is about to ensue. :D

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2008-07-28 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
I want someone to finish the jokes for me! XD
