(no subject)

Just put a bunch of new elements into the steampunk story generator.

Your story is a romance between a freelance adventurer and an opium addict. The lovers experience loss of power and an oil lamp while in the mysterious Orient.

The story begins in a gentlemen's club staffed by automatons, when a twin and a morally ambiguous sidekick meet because of elaborate rituals or ceremonies. It is about the uncanny.

The story begins in a young lady's coming-out ball, when a titled spy and a librarian meet because of shifting loyalties. It features navy/pirate conflicts. The protagonist is motivated because they've always wanted to open a really good restaurant.

This story begins as it ends, with a brusque man. In a penny arcade, a forceful man and a scruffy person struggle against the odds and encounter a secret undercover mission, a romance between people who actually like/respect each other, and a fighter wearing impractical clothing who fights easily anyway who is motivated because kicking ass is fun. The text concerns not fitting in.

I think I need to tweak the sentences to put more emphasis on the settings, since there's a lot of them in the data, and steampunk seems to benefit from the settings anyway.

I want to read this.

Indeed. The delicate fragrance of comedy of manners... misunderstandings... impersonations... wine cellars...

Here are a few gems that I got.

It begins with a courtesan in the public eye. This person meets a dashing airship pirate and together they encounter a complicated caper plot and a duel of wits and swords. The story winds up in a city street at night full of different people and languages and features sensously described food. The overall narrative has a connection to a mythic cycle.

Reads like it could be one of the original Arsene Lupin (the first) stories. BTW, you need to correct the spelling of "sensuously."

Your story begins with a cold and deadly courtesan in Antarctica. The hero is a young man with unruly hair that hides his intense eyes who also has one eye. Plot elements include a hug and ruins in which life still lingers.

I would think she'd be a cold courtesan in Antarctica!

Fixed the spelling, thanks.

Too bad the element of "ice on furs" didn't show up in that second one! XD

Should there be some nationalities? Prussian, British, French and so on? Or do you want it more generic?

What about weird artifacts from Atlantis/Mu/Mars?

Do you have consulting detective among the professions?

Sure I can put nationalities in. :)I've got "detective" but not "consulting detective." Thanks!

It is a great tool/toy so I am happy to help out. Thank you for all of your hard work on it!

Thanks! XD I've had a couple of thoughts sparked by your comment, so am happliy putting in things like "a Bolshevik" and "a Communist" in it, and I think the artifact from [place] will go into a sentence, although it'll lead to amusing things like "an artifact from a young lady's coming-out ball." Although I find the silly ones the best ones of all. XD

Do you have anarchist, imperialist, loyalist, nationalist, royalist as character-type modifiers? These all seem appropriate also.

I ahve a few of those, I think. I'll add the others.

More elements that might up the steampunk feeling; trying to think along Verne and Wells lines:

world domination

rejection of the world

madness, egomania, obsessiveness

speaking tube

pneumatic messaging system

Talos, the man made of brass

secret knowledge found in a pyramid

a velvet-upholstered time machine

a flying machine

a tunnel to the center of the earth

a man without a country

a mechanical fortuneteller

a flying castle, a walking castle, a spinning castle

a portal to Mars in a tomb

a death ray, a ray gun

harnessing aetheric vibrations

a pocket-watch that can halt time

scientific advance

mutated animals

a man-beast hybrid

a cataloging system containing all knowledge

an artificial arm of steel

ETA: a laboratory assistant [as well as "assistant"]
