Manga Bullet

I just came across mangabullet.com, which looks to be a new social site (just out of beta) that has a DA/Manga Revolution sort of gallery and adds the ability to upload vids and have clubs and whatnot, and they're planning on partnering with anime cons so you can register through them (why? dunno yet).

What seems to be different about this one art gallery-wise is that as a subscriber ($5.50 for one month, 6 months a bit over $25, so a little more expensive than DA), you can offer yourself for commissions through MB and get paid through MB - they hold the money and it gets sent to you once the commission's finished. Hm. I've gone ahead and signed up to reserve "telophase" and I'll be putting a few things in the gallery. I might go for a one-month subscription just to see if it's worth it for commissions or publicity for PBR. if not, it might be Yet Another Gallery to maintain.

My MB site is: http://telophase.mangabullet.com/ Right now it's boring, but I'll have some art uploaded soon - okay, nothing you haven't seen before here and on DA and MR, but hey. :)

Oooh... Commissions, eh? *excited*

Yeah. I'm getting some pics into the gallery first, and we'll see if they're popular, at any rate. :D If so, I'll probably experiment with the commissions thing.

Wow. Sounds like a total rip off.

I predict in 6 - 9 months: Total Wank over MB not paying the commission deposits.

Eh, we'll see. :)

I wouldn't worry about that. You can withdraw from your commissions earnings at any time (providing you've made at least $10, to avoid high PayPal/etc fees), and the system is much safer than risking new business with people you don't know. Lots of people have already successfully sold commissions and withdrawn from their savings; some have withdrawn three figure amounts already.

It's an entirely optional feature of the site, the only investment being a subscription, which offers plenty of other features as well. If MangaBullet was taking credit card details, a risk would be very prominent. But the site isn't, so as it stands, it's much safer than selling elsewhere.

I will follow your experiment with interest. ^_^

I've been figuring out the @$&#% entry interface for the commissions, but I think I finally got it. XD We'll see if I manage to get any commissions this month.

I've been on MB since their beta days so I got a free 1 year sub instantly xD I have no idea if it's worth it since I haven't seen what MB life is without it but It's a pretty nice site. Too new though, you don't get enough views/comments because people are staying in their circles over there also, but i'm hoping the site will grow more.
I have not tried the commissions yet though, but some of my watch list have, i don't really trust the middle man payment aspect but I wish you luck with it :D The site owners and mods are very active though so if you have problems post in the forum will fix it :)

It's an experiment. Maybe it'll work, maybe it won't. :)

I... have a real problem with middlemen in commissionwork. I don't allow it at *all*. It's between me and the commissioner and there's absolutely no reason for a middle man to get involved. *shudders*

Yeah that's what I focused on.

It's an experiment. If it works, it works, if it doesn't, it doesn't. We'll see. I may not get any commissions at all, in which case the point is moot. :)
