Hee, yes - one goatpower! I think that one is also in the photographic history of the place that Kat gave us when we moved into town.
The People's Republic of Tacky Park was an early commuter railroad suburb. Both the town and nearby Columbia Union College (run by the Seventh Day Adventists) were located where they are because of the hilly landscape - it was thought in those days that this was a more healthful place to live. And it's true that our summer temperatures tend to be a bit cooler (2-5°F) than downtown DC near the Potomac. Our previous town, Kensington, MD, was another example of such a town, as is Garrett Park.
I'll be posting my pix from this years' parade sometime soon, I hope ... no goats, but we did have dogs and horses!
