Art alert!

New pic by Feimo on DA: Yin Yang Shi. I don't know if it's supposed to be anyone specific *coughSeimeicough*, or just a random onmyouji as the description is in Chinese. Feimo illustrates a lot of books professionally, so either could be the case. (ETA: [livejournal.com profile] greenapple2004 confirms that the descriptions says it's Seimei. :D)

My right eye twitches a bit at all the fanbrats in the comments who are going "OMG IS THAT SAI FROM HIKARU NO GO?!" even though realistically I know that Sai is the only person in Heian costume that they're likely to have ever seen. (although you'd think that checking teh description to see if it's in fanart or in painting would give them a clue...)

The caption confirms that it is indeed Seimei. :-) Pretty!!! (even with the silly hat)

Yaay! :D

The Heian era was indeed an era of truly unfortunate hats. XD

Woot. Just got a new desktop. (And I can't blame them for assuming it was Sai - it does look a lot like him, and most of them probably can't read the description.)

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 04:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, it looks like him in the same way that every bishounen in Heian costume does. :)

although you'd think that checking teh description to see if it's in fanart or in painting would give them a clue...

That would require them to read rather than just look at the pretty picture. They can barely gush coherently :p

But oh man, those eyes. I've got such a hard on for Seimei.

EEEEEEEEEE. ♥ Oh man, thank you for linking that... instant favorite.

And while I know that the majority of the internet isn't likely to know any other characters in Heian period-dress other from Sai, the fact that so many of them are making that mistake just makes me very sad.

She does such beautiful stuff. I often wonder what the stories are behind some of them.

Don't the hat and clothing together indicate some specific status or rank in the court?

This particular outfit is, I think, the hunting costume - in other words, casual clothing for the Heian gentleman. Seimei wears his at court, which tells you that he's got some serious influence with the Emperor to be granted the privilege of wearing it instead of the normal court regalia, which is black and includes the pillbox hat with the springy thing going up and then down the back that Hiromasa's wearing in my icon. :)

Give 'em some props for having good taste in manga.
