Bookshelves of Doom has a small rant about a wannabe editor who marked up the pages of a library copy of Jo Walton's Farthing, while at the same time missing the point of alternate history.
Wow... Well, I can sort of see where the temptation comes in because a lot of people who are grammatically and phonetically inclined probably notice actual and tiny copy editing errors as well, but who in their right mind corrects them in a library book? If they're that tempted to be "right", why don't they just buy a copy, correct to their hearts content and then send it in to the publishing house?? ETA: They could even use a red pen!
