SEEKRIT sneek preview!

Do you guys want a SEEKRIT SNEEK PREVIEW of the cover for Project Blue Rose: Human Touch? So SEEKRIT that I'm posting it publicly where 400 of my closest friends can see it?!

You don't need to tell me Rivas' arm is a bit short. I can see that. :)

ETA: And because someone will inevitably ask the question:

It's a wraparound cover. The front is on the right side, the back of the book is on the left. The stuff under the black will get cropped out when printed and the other lines mark the boundaries of where all the text has to stay to ensure it's printed correctly.

ETA2: If anyone has any suggestions for colors, let me know. I wanted the blanket in the left reddish, but I can't come up with any combo that works for me yet. :/ (Jordan's wearing a elather Utilikilt, so it's black.)

Love. It.

Might I suggest that Rivas' shirt might be a pale sage-ish color? I think it might contrast nicely with his skintone. And maybe Jordan's hoodie could be a faded blue over a white shirt, with the background a darker shade of teal, which would not only provide some contrast to the shirts and the blanket on the left, but also blend the two shades (disclaimer: I'm not an artist, nor do I play one on TV, and while I've studied interior design, I realize the color principles might be different).

I think the color principles are fairly similar, actually. :D Thanks! I pretty much suck at coming up with color schemes, and either rip them off other pictures or rely on putting a layer on top of everything filled with a color, then turning the opacity way down low to unify the colors. The problem with that being that it also tends to dull the colors a bit.

Thanks! I'll give that a try. :D

ETA: I think something very close to that will work!

I slapped in potential highlight and shadow shades, too, without paying much attention to folds and stuff. I toned Jordan's shirt down to a desaturated blue because the white was too attention-grabbing. Rivas' shirt is a bit darker than I think of sage as being, because the lighter version ended up getting lost. Ironically, I have a shirt the exact same color and style that Rivas is now wearing. XD

ETA2: Aaand now with the title, spine, and back cover text (http://www.magatsu.net/pic/Cover-color-scheme-DETAILED.jpg) tossed on to make it look better. I like the green bar on the front, but of course it's not so hot on the back. :/

That looks pretty good.

I think you should model your matching shirt for at least one day of the con.

Did you catch my second edit with the cover stuff thrown on?

[identity profile] rachelmanija.livejournal.com 2008-05-07 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, just did. Actually, "blah blah boykissing" is probably sufficient for sales.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2008-05-07 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I think it captured the essence of PBR's popularity.

Can you send me the final cover with text for a quick proof before you send the whole shebang to the printers, please?

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2008-05-07 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Yup. Will do. :)

I figured you might soften the white up somehow, but it's still a good contrast to the utilikilt, the hoodie, and his skin tone. Rivas' shirt is not only exactly the color I was thinking (that's the color I usually see marketed as sage, lighter is celery), but uh, I have a shirt that style and color too, only ribbed. *G*

I love the whole composition, but I see what you mean about the green bar. Maybe tilt it a little more toward the gold side of the spectrum? That way it will stand out against both the red and the teal, but not actually clash.

My shirt is a waffle weave. XD

Ooh, that might work. I'll try it at home, since I'm no longer on lunch break and wouldn't really be able to explain why I'm working on art if anyone walked by. XD

Bwah! I have that same shirt too, only in plain jersey knit -- and it's actually a guy's henley too, handmedown from an ex ages and ages ago. Well, it USED to be more of an olive drab, but with much washing and fading it's pretty much sage green now... :)

(And "blah blah boysinkilts" might go well with "blah blah boyskissing", at least for a certain enthusiastic subset of the market. Mmmmm, kilts.)

Yeah, I like that.

Ooo, very nice! No ideas for colours, though, sorry...

Thank you! :D

Nice composition!
I usually just browse clothing sites and see what's hawt and what's not.

Thanks!:D

Very nice on the eyes! I like the idea of a reddish blanket, but I'm not very good with color coordination and design. :(

Thank you! :D
