Ilaria: Superficially, Ilaria seems lecherous but when denied her goals, her inner miser awakes. She once handled her problems by quitting a band, which got her into her current predicament.

Or maybe not:

Florence: You wouldn't know it by looking at her, but Florence is a sorrowful llama. She looks like a mermaid, only Zen.

Harry: The only thing bounty hunter Harry wants -- one-fourth of a soul -- is continually stymied by chance. He is a zombie.

I actually liked that one quite a lot. I can see all sort of existential angst as the zombie bounty hunter fruitlessly seeks his soul piecemeal ... .

This could be fun. I might play with outline ideas once I've moved (not that I intend to make it, but just for kicks...). :)

Jakub: The only thing boxer Jakub wants -- rule over the world -- is continually stymied by chance. He is a puppeteer.

Aya: Sexy Aya knows where her interest lies: an hallucinogenic toad. She is a cleric and also a go player, due to being insolent.

I liked the zombie whose goal is good health. Good luck with that one!

Madison: The only thing magician Madison wants -- the recovery of stolen holy relics -- is continually stymied by chance. She is an elementary school student.

I could so easily see this. Especially as something done by CLAMP after CLAMP Campus Detectives.

Michal: Michal wants invulnerability on the way to her ultimate goal of an honorable death, but she has so far been thwarted by fate. She decides to proceed by opening a small, mysterious shop.

Invulnerability and an honorable death? At least no one can say she's not ambitious.

Ivan: Ivan lives for finding a lover. Superficially, he seems pallid but when thwarted his inner ninja is roused. He decides to proceed by feigning disinterest.

Good luck with that strategy, Ivan!

Here's another character for the cast of that first one:

Océane: You wouldn't know it by looking at her, but Océane is a spunky god. She looks like an elementary school student, only pompous.

Mai: She is both genki and easy-going. Because of stealing valuable objects d'art, she feels she can't hope for material success. Mai, a dreamer, once tried to fix things by disintegrating enemies, which got her into her current mess. She wants a secret doorway.

We could write a story for Madison, Mai, and Océane! It would include Mai's theft of some valuable object d'art that turned out to be a holy relic! Madison and Océane go after it, and Mai ropes them into her quest for the secret doorway ... .

I think I have Mai's sidekick. He was born to be a second banana:

Narek: Narek is underweight and fabulous. He survives by working hard.

Once they find the secret door, they end up in another world, where they encounter Thijs:

Thijs: Poor Thijs once handled things by traveling to another world, which got him into his current predicament. He decides to proceed by opening a small, mysterious shop. He is an ordinary crossdresser.

And so it goes ... .

And nothing to do with that manga, but I just got this:

Uri: The elite Uri knows what his goal is: material success. He is a housewife who looks like an ordinary member of the Shinsengumi, but in reality he is a lover.

Every time the Shinsengumi appears, it cracks me up. XD

Me too! And the llamas! What is it about us geeky folk and our llamas?

Fábio: He is a llama who secretly longs to be a writer. Over time, Fábio fixates on fame, but is not sure how to achieve it.

Sell a novel, Fábio, or a short story, or even a joke for Reader's Digest. You'll be famous before ya know it!

And that reminds me of my old friends on the Neil Gaiman message board, where llamas are a constant leitmotif and that Fabio makes an occasional guest appearance ... (OK, it's someone masquerading as him with an alternative ID, but it's still pretty funny!)
