ConDFW Short Story Contest

Short notice, but I thought I'd mention that ConDFW, of which I am part of the staff :D, is holding a short story contest. The full rules are here. (If you are a winner and do not want your story published in the program book, let us know.)

Basic rules:

--original fic
--1500 words max
--amateur writers only (definition on the linked page above)
--deadline February 10
--prizes: 1st - $50 gift certificate to Half-Price Books, 2nd - $25 GC, 3rd $10 GC. (If you don't have a Half-Price near you, I suspect we'll be quite happy to give you an equivalent gift certificate for something you can get to.)

I note, of course, that we managed not to put a genre requirement on there, so - oo, no official genre requirement. But as ConDFW is a SF/F/H con, I think the general idea was SF/F/H. :)

The contest is open to amateur writers only, defined as any writer who has not sold a story of any length for profit before January 1, 2008.

What kind of f-ery is that? What if we've sold--but we suck? Shouldn't we still be given a chance?

That makes you a pro that sucks, though! XD

(...not going where that line leads....)

In a development heretofore never found in any of my works, the story I immediately thought of is too long. Crazy.

Strangely enough, I was able to assemble a story for each semi-specified genre listed. Just barely.

Thanks for the heads up.

Hey, perfect! Good luck!

(I'd be tempted to enter myself if it weren't for that whole "being on con staff" thing. XD)
