Stats neepery

You guys managed to pass that RAISED BY PIGEONS manga report around but good!

Now, that multiple-thousand count doesn't mean that the page was loaded multiple-thousand times. That means I got that many requests from that page, and there were 10 pictures on it, so every time the page was loaded, it counts ten hits. So it's not quite as popular as it looks. :D But it was higher than the average I get, and if I post to [livejournal.com profile] scans_daily, as has been requested, it'll probably get much, much, much higher.

Note, however, that Kenpachi Zaraki in a Schoolgirl Uniform, with about 6 or 7 pics on the page, I think, is still holding steady, and it's even beating out the number of times Leonardo's War Machine was called, if you count the hotlinking from that Russian site.

I'm not worried about hotlinking. I've got 5 terabytes of bandwidth on the account and between all of us that I'm hosting, we've only gone through 3 gigs so far this month. But thanks to manga and doujinshi CRACK I've finally used more bandwidth for my own pages than [livejournal.com profile] madame_manga has for hers! XD

ETA: Yes, you'll notice that if you put me on an LJ filter and read my LJ through that and load an image I'm hosting on my own site, I can tell what you've named it. So I can tell if you've stuck me on your "people+i+hate" filter! :D

ETA2:

You can see from this, though, that the random zanpakuto generator is still the most popular thing on my site, along with that steady but inexplicable stream of hits on the Japan galleries (are they being hotlinked somewhere?). Not entirely sure why the /pic/ directory isn't showing up here, but I'm sure there's a reason.

...

you should totally post it to scans daily.

they'll have a field day.

:) I'll wait until tonight or tomorrow - I scanned the pages at a slightly higher resolution than the one I posted, and I'd want to upload them so I can link to the larger versions from the post in case anyone wanted to actually read the teeny text.

How do you see those statistics anyway? XD I wanna see which pages on my eljay have been getting the most traffic. :D

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2007-11-16 06:23 pm (UTC)(link)
They're not from LJ, they're from magatsu.net. :) Since I have the pictures in my posts hosted on magatsu.net, I can look at the stats there and see what page was requesting the pictures and extrapolate how many times that page was loaded.

http://sitemeter.com/ does much the same thing - if you sign up for a free counter there, and paste the HTML for their image they give you into a post, it tells you how many times it was loaded, and you can get an idea of how popular that page is. Or you can find your own webspace somewhere (or request free space from me XD) that has stats available and do the same thing yourself.

Aaaah.

(I'll be getting on that website soon, BTW. Still trying to figure out tables.)

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2007-11-16 06:28 pm (UTC)(link)
:D (Just ask me to set up stats for you ... and, er, uh, remind me if I'm supplying space for you or not because I've completely forgotten XD, and you're good to go)

[identity profile] matildarose.livejournal.com 2007-11-16 06:29 pm (UTC)(link)
(Okay! And yes, you are. Which is why there's a wmatt directory with a broken webpage or two on it. :O)

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2007-11-16 06:38 pm (UTC)(link)
(I just went and set up stats while I was thinking about it - look for an email with your login info to see it. :D)

[identity profile] madame-manga.livejournal.com 2007-11-17 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
I started reading one of your Raised By Pigeons posts out loud to Hubby, in between helpless snorts of laughter, and with every appearance of nonchalance he replied, "Oh, yeah, I've heard of that one. You want it for Christmas?" XD

Goodness gracious me... I don't think anyone's hotlinking the Manji/Rin NC-17 pics, because that's the only thing I've uploaded to magatsu.net that I can imagine generates much bandwidth usage. But I could be wrong! Idle curiosity prompts me to wonder if I'm able to see the stats for those directories from my login...

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2007-11-17 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure you can see them, but I can easily set it up for you if you can't. :D

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2007-11-17 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
Check yer email for info on getting stats. :D

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2007-11-17 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
And according to your monthly referrer stats for November, the only non-your-LJ referrers are:

http://members.aol.com/_ht_a/lrbowen/cmorder.htm (3 reqs)
http://us.f369.mail.yahoo.com/ym/ShowLetter (1 req - someone's email)
http://forums.narutofan.com/private.php (1 req - probably not hotlinking, or there'd be more, I'd think)

And the majority of requests seem to be the PDFs, and the most of *that* appears to be the Cardassian Mask pdf, with 405 requests. :D

[identity profile] madame-manga.livejournal.com 2007-11-17 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks for setting that up! I just spent at least half an hour poring over the variously sorted lists and pie charts. I'm not entirely sure how to interpret them, but they're oddly fascinating anyway. I seem to have a number of people searching for the term "harigata", which actually makes sense, since it's an antique Japanese word for "dildo". :D

I ran across someone mildly dissing "The Cardassian Mask" a while back, and told her that I was amazed anyone was still even READING that, since I wrote it twelve freakin' years ago! But I guess I shouldn't actually be surprised that an old Voyager zine is the most-requested item, since Trek is still such a gigantic fandom compared to anything else I've played with since. Which is entirely on purpose, mind you. :P

You're welcome! :D I mostly look at the Search Query Report to see what odd things people have used to find me (most are variants on "whats my zanpakuto"), the Request Report to see what pages are being called, and the Referer Report to see where they're coming from. Plus skimming the rest to see how many Googlebots and MSNbots are hitting my site, because you can be pretty sure that a huge chunk of traffic is mostly bots. XD
