Ragweed has been bloody awful this year! I can't wait for a good cold snap so it'll wither.

Our weather looks to be the same for at least ten more days. D:

Can you tell me your source for this info? I need to bookmark something like this at home particularly for Breathless. I wonder if my little town would have its own counts or if we would be using your town's as the closest big city?

I got this from WFAA.com's weather page (http://www.wfaa.com/weather/). Most of the library staff seem to use that as their weather-info page.

Ahem, pardon my randomness--I just looked at your userinfo, and you don't happen to be a librarian somewhere in north-ish Texas, do you? I'm just asking because my best friend moved to Wichita Falls for her first post-MLIS public library job not that long ago, and I imagine she'd love to know another Texas librarian. :) She's [livejournal.com profile] kyspaz.

You can get a pollen forecast of sorts by plugging in your own zipcode into this URL:

I live in a small town about 60 miles southwest of the center of WFAA. The state university I work for is about 30 miles southwest of that. I grew up in Texas but lived in the Seattle area for about 21 years, and am now (thankfully) back home. I might have ended up in Wichita Falls myself as I had a phone interview with a state university there, but was offered my current job before that progressed any further.

Thanks for the pollen forecast link!

We're suffering over here, too. Poor Hans is coughing and sneezing, and my nose is overflowing like Vesuvius.

Allergy: you don't die from it, but you wish you could.

Exactly. I had a huge coughing fit last night all of a sudden, and I suspect I got a blast of pollen in the face or something.

Yeah, when it gets really bad, even my vasomotor rhinitis (translation: your nose and sinuses get messed up, but your allergy tests were negative, so we don't know what the hell is wrong) kicks in, just because there's junk in the air ... just like smoke, or dust.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2007-09-26 06:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, that must be like my reactive airways; i.e., you cough excessively during colds or when your airways are irritated, for no reason we can figure out.

Is that why I'm having issues suddenly? And here I thought the patchouli in Ravenous turned on me this morning. XD

I'm glad to know that it's something more like pollens that will hopefully DIE SOON!!! (it's starting to get pretty chilly here at night...it's already killed off one of my hanging baskets in the yard.)
