What I really like about this one is the name of the zanpakuto.

Telophase's Zanpakutō: (Fourth Division Irregulars) Savage Algae is a feral, juicy rapier that emits random bursts of static. When you activate it with the command "Ally, ally, oxen free!" it begins to vibrate with increasing violence, until eventually it erupts into a geyser of champagne. What's Your Zanpakutō?

Actually, the whole thing holds together pretty well! It's feral, so "savage" makes sense, and if algae ain't juicy, it ain't algae anymore ... and "juicy" also goes well with its special power ... .

I think its special power would be quite a shock to any opponent. XD

(You know that a whole squad of Irregulars, even though their weapons might individually be weird or useless, would probably be so off-putting that they'd be almost invincible. XD)

You're some big, nasty Hollow and you come upon a squad of Irregulars. They're not that experienced in combat, especially not in mass combat, so half of them immediately run into each other and fall over. The rest manage to invoke shikai without too much trouble, and you get doused with champagne, your car keys and wallet are stolen, your mother is insulted, enraging you, and you are now holding a nice bouquet of dead flowers while sakura petals sweep gracefully around the battle. You, blinded by champagne in your eyes, fling the bouquet away and sweep wildly around with your claws (or whatever you have). You manage to hit some of the Irregulars, but then trip over the zanpakuto that fell apart when it was released, bang your head into a nearby building and fall onto the one Irregular who's got the completely awesome zanpakuto that shoots giant fireballs, with the drawback that after each fireball the Irregular collapses unconscious for three hours and it's in a constant-release state so that every time he wakes up, he shoots a fireball and collapses again. The timing is just right so that he wakes up, screams, shoots a fireball in your direction, and falls unconscious again.

Final score: one dead, toasty Hollow, twelve Irregulars with minor injuries caused by the Hollow, falling off the curb or running into the side of a building, four with serious injuries caused by other Irregulars who had their zanpakutos aimed in the wrong direction, and one in critical condition after his zanpakuto exploded.

(I was the type of GM who'd award extra EP to players who managed to survive something like that, on the basis that merely to have lived through it was worth massive amounts of experience!)

XD My only experience GMing was a short-lived Teenagers from Outer Space campaign* where, in one game, my players needed to contact a hedgehog on a space station (as you do, in TFOS) so they decided to form a rock band and hold a concert to pass the message along, and they spent over an hour working out their costume and the set decoration.** I highly encouraged that. XD

And the player who'd been up all night studying for a midterm and who fell deeply asleep ten minutes into the game earned his character the ability to sleep through any situation. His character still played, however: we just had him fall asleep also, and the other characters dragged him around and ended up using him as part of the drum set, I think.



* I have trouble improvising, which means I'm not that good as a live-action/tabletop GM. :D My best ideas and reactions come after thinking about them for some time. I'd probably be way better as an online GM.

** I still remember one girl, who took a can of Invisible Spray Paint, which made everything it painted invisible, who painted a bikini on her naked body with that. I thought it was an awesome costume for a rock band. XD
