As requested, screenshots of the outfit Ishida is wearing in this part of the Bount arc. Spoilers only if you give a damn. Trust me, no matter what happens in the Bount arc, everything will revert back to the status quo that was at the end of the Soul Society arc.

I had to stitch two screenshots together to get the full outfit, since the camera panned up him, instead of showing the whole thing at once. LOOK how ill-fitting that jacket is! It's lumpy, not tailored, and pulling in weird areas. And I get the feeling the pants are riding up in the crotch.

A closeup so that you can see how ill-fitting it is around the neck and shoulders. This calls for some sort of LOLcat-type caption, I think.

Oh my poor, poor Ishida...what a cruel fate...it's almost a tuxedo gone wrong...

Actually, there is continuity from the filler. No, really. People refer to it having happened and everything. And the stuffed animals hang around.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2007-08-18 03:33 pm (UTC)(link)
What I was referring to was: people don't die. Characters don't end up changed in profound ways. Nobody who hasn't achieved bankai by the end of the SS arc isn't going to achieve it by the end of the Bount arc. It's all got to be restored to the end of the SS arc, because that's the point Kubo Tite had the characters going into the Arrancar arc.

Oh, damn, I was really hoping the stuffed animals would go away. They could either die tragically and heroically or get human bodies back and run off to Ex-Plush Paradise, I don't care, just remove them from my screen! *oppressed sigh*

...Even looking at the screencaps, I don't really see problems with Ishida's outfit. (other than the overall dorkiness.) Must be fashion-blind. Like the animators.

The shadows mark wrinkles that wouldn't be there on a properly tailored jacket, and the silhouette of the torso is slightly lumpy, as if Ishida's pudgy. In the close-up, the neckline of the jacket is 2-3 inches away from where his actual neck is, and the shoulders look liked they've got those hug, round 1980s shoulderpads in them, not the sleek, sharp shoulder pads that well-fitted men's jackets have. :) They make him look like his shoulders are shrugging slightly.

"Man, bleach goes into moments of suck, doesn't it. And by moments, I mean months."
"Yeah, I stopped watching at sixty. Where did the production values go? I mean, I hear they're supposed to be able to draw to be in animation."
"What!"
"I know! Say it's not so!"
"I know the entire team that worked on Weiss Kreuz are like... [drums fingers]"
"Education in art is important! I wonder what their qualifications are."
"'I went to high school!'"
"'My grandfather is a grocer!'"
"'I like to use chalk on sidewalks!'"
"'I'm wearing pants!'"
"'I once knew someone who knew how to draw!' Why are we not constantly recording our genius?"
"I don't know."

OMG, that's terrible.

[identity profile] maxineofarc.livejournal.com 2007-08-18 11:50 am (UTC)(link)
Quincy Archer has done nothing to deserve this, surely.

[identity profile] dhelix-studio.livejournal.com 2007-08-18 02:31 pm (UTC)(link)
He looks rather traumatized in that last screencap. But at least we know why.

I keep staring at his fugly shoes.

Omi Tsukiyono would reject that as too unflattering.

Someone who can sew the way he can would never tolerate such an ill-fitting outfit. Never! By the honor of the Quincy, he would reject it.

And the art is Weiß Kreuz/Saiyuki Reload Gunlocke caliber. Somebody's paying the artists in soup again, I guess.

[identity profile] cicer.livejournal.com 2007-08-18 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh God, it burns. Are the animation artists drawing with their feet again? It looks like it.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2007-08-18 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
The weird thing is, the animation quality is both good and bad in the same episode. It's like they got one guy who can do art, and then hired his brother as well.

I think the guys who installed his neck did it wrong. And his head is... I don't even understand what's wrong with his head, there's like non-Euclidean geometry or something going on there.
