(no subject)

Last night I got a little bitty baby crock post (1.5 quarts; I ahve a *very* small kitchen and no storage space, so this works well). Anybody know any good recipes/books/websites for slow-cokking/crock pot type stuff? It's got a small pot roast going in it right now which is going to start driving me crazy from the smell in a few hours. :)

I ended up staying home sick from work - either my Lact-Aid didn't work at *all* last night or I've got some sort of bug. Works well with the new purchase, though - pot roast is nice, comfy, comfort food. I can get some research done from home that the dean wants me to do, and my boss is starting to look into VPN setup for me so I can get other work done from home at times like this. It would seriously cut down my guilt factor about staying home or coming in late if I'm not feeling up to snuff.

I ahve also made the mistake of opening the window for the cat to sit on the sill - she is now DRIVING me INSANE with demands to be let outside RIGHT NOW to get them lousy birds just sitting out there TAUNTING her. Maybe in a couple of years I can afford to rent a halfway decent house instead of an apartment, so she can go out, but at the moment there are jsut too many cars and too many dogs running around out there for me to let her out.

I don't know if lengua is your thing, but crock-pot is the way to cook it. Barbacoa, same thing. And let's not forget beans.

I can't get you exact recipes, but I can give you some ideas.

Never had lengua *googles around* Hm. I'd be willing to try it. Barbacoa, mmm. I know I want to make baked beans because I love 'em; I'll have to find other bean recipes, too. :) Thanks!

We always laugh about "Uncle Mike's Beans" in my family. We had a barbecue for some family occasion and of course, we all love my Uncle Mike's beans, but Aunt Cindy's mom was right next to us when we made the remark. Turns out it was Cindy's recipe.

It's pinto beans, Mexican-style. Ingredients include chicharrones (pork rhindes), bacon, loads of garlic, a whole onion, jalapeno, cilantro, tomato. Not sure of the proportions on those. Serve in a bowl over Spanish Rice and you have a meal.

Mmm. Sounds good. Especially since I haven't eaten and the pot roast is starting to smell...

I'll poke around recipes and see what I can find that sounds like that. XD

I don't know if anyone has shared this with you yet, but if not, you might check out [livejournal.com profile] crockpotters to see if they have recipes you'd be interested in. :D Welcome to the Crock Potter club! hee

You are such a mean cat owner, by denying your cat to go outside.

Speaking of cats, Landry decided to jump through the window to go outside but the window was closed..... It was sort of sad to see her leap and hit the window, but also funny. I'm such a bad cat caregiver.

Yes. Yes, I am. And you know what, I LAUGH at her! I RIDICULE her desires to go outside! I BELITTLE her! I LOWER her SELF-ESTEEM! She's going to start dressing all in black, piercing various appendages, and smoking clove cigarettes while writing awful poetry ANY DAY NOW!

Well, as soon as she shreds all the paper in the house. It's an ongoing project of hers.
