Another insane idea...

...anyone want to write up a SHORT SHORT Bleach story so I can draw a (short!) doujinshi? I wouldn't be able to start real work until after I get back from Japan, however I'd like to start as soon as possible afterwards, since I'll have to be doing other projects near the end of the fall semester.

As far as characters go, I'm more interested in the shinigami than the Kurakara characters (provided I remembered the name of the city correctly, but you get the idea). I'm actually currently fascinated by Gin and Rangiku, but am open to lots of things. I like Komamura, too, if he's not (spoilers for Soul Society arc) bloody well obsessing over Tosen's betrayal as all the fic about him that I've found is about, but I do understand that there's not much more to his character, so it's kind of hard. I was about to say that I'm not sure I could deal with Rukia's hair, but I'd deal with it if Renji were in it, because I like him.

It may be easier to think of characters I'm *not* that interested in - anyone from 12th, because no way am I drawing Mayuri. XD Hitsugaya doesn't interest me a whole lot, either, for some reason. Tosen. Aizen. Momo. Ganju or his sister. Yamamoto. Kira. I think I could probably deal with almost any other character but them. :) Well, I might have to kill someone if I had to draw Byakuya's hair dealies more than once.

So far, my personal artistic genius seems to consist of taking things that other people have come up with and mixing them together, or doing other things with them, instead of coming up with stuff on my own. It's highly annoying at times. :/

I have to admit that I don't mind having artistic abilities that are purely derivative. Then again, I've never aspired to having artistic abilities in general and may just be pleased that people don't openly laugh at me when I post stories.

Gone through and re-read them. :) You tend to do the character-study thing, which I think usually works better in prose than comic form. The Karin fic is the most likely candidate, in part because there's a lot of dialogue - it would normally be a bit long, but there's a lot of places in it that could be shortened or abbreviated in visual format. So it's a possibility, although I don't want to commit myself to anything in particular just yet. :) (and one thing against it is that it's got that late-series spoiler about
Isshin, which would mean half my f-list couldn't read it.)

I don't think I told you earlier that I adore the Ukitake fic. I'd actually forgotten that *you'd* written it, but remembered the essence of it, even with the approximate metric buttload of Bleach fic that I've read in the past month or so. :D

Hmmm ... the Ukitake fic could also be done as sequential art, but I think it'd have to be restructured to be less internal, with the last scene over sake being the framing device, maybe for the two Captains sharing memories of those who've returned. Hmmmm.

Thank you! I sort of thought that they wouldn't adapt easily, and wondered if the late series spoilers could be a problem. And Bleach is going to start coming out slower now that it's being serialized in SJ.

Meanwhile, I don't know if she'd give you permission, but you might look at incandescens's fic (http://homepages.tcp.co.uk/~maya/fanfic/fanficbleach.html); it tends to be short and awesome, and there's a lot to choose from.

:) I'm still not sure what I'm doing, an already-written story or a new one. It would be nice to have a new story that nobody's read before, but if that's not forthcoming, then I'll find one that I think works well as sequential art. :)

I could probably do something gen-y set out of timeline, though I don't think I write Soul Society well (or, as yet, at all). I'd rather do the human side of the fence. Maybe wacky hijinks and humor, if you're interested in drawing something in that vein. When do you get back from Japan?
