[The anime episodes are so little connected to each other, I think the only thing that could be spoilery would be Ginko's background, and that takes place somewhere in the middle of the series. :)]
[And is not referred to in the story above, in case I wasn't clear]
The notes at the end are sort of spoilery. Sort of. XD; They explain a misconception I had when the episodes first started airing, but not the circumstances under which I learned I was wrong.
For mushishi, I've also written:
Pillars (http://sub-divided.livejournal.com/65801.html) (pseudo-episode, decently long, no spoilers) Untitled drabble (http://community.livejournal.com/drabble_trade/1848.html?thread=13624#t13624) (no spoilers)
And I recommend:
(no spoilers) Notes from an Apprentice Mushishi (http://tarigwaemir.livejournal.com/175845.html) by tarigwaemir Red String Mushi (http://brainbreaker.livejournal.com/23881.html) by brainbreaker drabble (http://reisha.livejournal.com/62887.html) by reisha thrall (http://community.livejournal.com/31_days/1118916.html) by tongari
(episode 5 spoilers) Love and Death Amongst the Molluscs (http://tarigwaemir.livejournal.com/212095.html) by tarigwaemir The Same Water from Two Wells (http://dijeron.livejournal.com/7559.html) by dijeron fishing village at sunrise in autumn (http://vanilla-klise.livejournal.com/824.html) by vanilla_klise
And the wonderful fabulous art of calintz: http://sakkiarte.livejournal.com/tag/mushishi
This reminds me, incidentally, that I went to Funimation's Mushishi panel at AX. They showed three episodes of their dub and it's really quite well done. Their ADR director definitely has the right ideas.
