Translation?

Since I'm reasonably sure that I have a few Japanese speakers on here that don't read rachelmanija: she's asking for some accurate, colloquial, and pithy translations of a few sentences to make our visit there slightly smoother. :)

(I figure one of the best things I can learn is "Sumimasen" because the combined meaning of "Excuse me/I'm sorry" can cover a lot of ground.)

"Wakarimasen" is the best word I know in Japanese: "I don't understand."

None of my little guides included the words for "smoking or non-smoking", which you will definitely need to know if you eat out anywhere.
