From one of the links to the meme that popped up on Technorati:

Every variation of my username ended up with a kusari-fundo, though the ability of the bankai changed.

I have no idea how that happened - must have hit a run of the same number in the random number generator. :D

AND IT'S NOT BANKAI, IT'S SHIKAI!

ETA: Huh. People truly aren't realizing that it doesn't matter what you put in the text box, because they're trying out all variations of their name. Guess my habit of retrying all memes to see if they're seeded from the textbox input or if they're random isn't as widespread as I assumed it was.

Ah well. Nothing really matters as long as people are having fun, and they seem to be. :)

"I am very fond of the ridiculous flowery names, though it is really the hilariously useless powers that turn me on." --lacewood (http://lacewood.livejournal.com/130240.html#cutid1).

"I *really* need to start watching this show so I can figure out what the heck this awesome weapon is." -- avalonjones (http://incandescens.livejournal.com/542984.html)

I should start putting pull quotes like that on it. XD

I've been following with the Technorati reaction page (http://www.technorati.com/blogs/www.magatsu.net/?reactions) (I *think* you can see it if you're not me) and the Google blog search (http://blogsearch.google.com/blogsearch?hl=en&scoring=d&q=link:http://www.magatsu.net/&ie=utf-8&num=10&output=rss&partner=wordpress), which has got most of 'em, I think. They catalog LJ really well, and Technorati gets whatever people have signed up on Technorati with, but I don't know how they do with other blog systems.

And I just saw this - "MOST AWESOME MEME RESULTS I HAVE EVER GOTTEN 8D" from [livejournal.com profile] kore_haiga who did, indeed, get a completely awesome zanpakuto (http://kore-haiga.livejournal.com/53470.html) with an appropriate name and command!

Lys's Zanpakutō:

Demon Drumbeat has two abilities: first, it produces pulses of infrasound that cause opponents to become uneasy, anxious, or frightened and second, it produces bursts of low-frequency sound that causes air to vibrate out of the opponent's lungs. It resembles a black bullwhip with long, white ribbons on the handle after it is unsealed. Lys invokes shikai with the command "Speak, Demon Drumbeat!".

This one's really nice too:

Snow uses the command "Strike" to transform Winter Heaven into an old-fashioned urumi which moves faster than the eye can see. It turns any exposed liquid, including blood, to ice.

Her name is Snow! She has an ice-based weapon with an ice-based name! And it's a light weapon, which can move really quickly -- perfect for making the opponent bleed!

Gosh, this thing gets some awesome results. I've started playing around with them, and got these:

Dude! A cloud of blades! And a prettily-shaped flame! That would be awesome.

...I just really like the name. Solitary Autumn!

XD This is hilarious because the sound of crickets is totally irritating to me. I will turn the whole house upside down to find a stubborn, hidden cricket that won't shut up. I would end up going crazy every time I invoked my zanpakuto, I think!

[identity profile] cicer.livejournal.com 2007-07-08 06:11 am (UTC)(link)
Dude! I keep getting really awesome ones. This is way too much fun.

...This is so cool. Dramatic blood mists! I want this one.

Coolest power evah. Death by metabolism implosion!

*keeps clicking* Dammit. This thing is addictive!

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2007-07-08 06:17 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know what it is, but it seems that the more the random-number generator works, the more it produces cool-sounding stuff where the name and power are eerily appropriate. XD OBVIOUSLY IT'S GETTING PSYCHIC FEEDBACK FROM ALL THE USERS!

... Or maybe not.

do not mock zanpakuto!

[identity profile] movingfinger.livejournal.com 2007-07-08 06:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Would also be very effective against librarians and recording engineers! Entire symphohy audiences, too!

Qem_Chibati's Zanpakutō:

Qem_Chibati carries Solemn Catfish unsealed. It resembles a segmented shuriken which hovers in the air nearby, and enhances the wielder's ability to perceive the opponent's intentions.

What's Your Zanpakutō?

I solemnly tell you that I wish this was real, right now.

Qem_Chibati's Zanpakutō:

This zanpakutō, named Mirror, transforms into a large, cute kusari-gama at Qem_Chibati's command of "Unbind, Mirror!" It manifests a flame in the shape of an eagle.

What's Your Zanpakutō?

Cool sounding; and yet utterly creepy once the description word kicked in.

Qem_Chibati's Zanpakutō:

This zanpakutō, named Burning Head Slicer, transforms into a blade limned with colored light at Qem_Chibati's command of "Come forth, Burning Head Slicer!" It produces illusory decoys.

What's Your Zanpakutō?

So does that mean it aims for the groin?

I can't speak for others, but *I* do the "retry and see if I can get a better result" thing all the time. Sure, I go through all sorts of variants on the input, but not until after I've tried reusing the initial inputs.

We were amused that [livejournal.com profile] imma_holiday's zanpakuto kind of turns her into Weiß Kreuz's Ken (http://viridian5.livejournal.com/1170137.html).

Yay!

Think of how cool a parasol would be in the rain or summer sun. Schuldig was very amused by his parasol/zanpakuto, Azure Fire Howl, that enhances his hearing. Between the listening and the suggestion of being loud to the point of obnoxiousness.... It even matches his canon eyes!

I too am confused by some of the complaints about "useless" abilities. I am the last person anyone wants to give the ability to liquify small amounts of flesh to....

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2007-07-08 05:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I think everyone's comparing themselves to the captains or to Ichigo, because all the main characters are super-hyper-powered: but it's made clear in canon that the majority of the Soul Reapers aren't anywhere near as powered-up.

OTOH, I guess that people don't share my trait of finding something much more fun when it's a challenge. :D

I have fun writing characters with small abilities using them in creative and lethal ways. Plus, having a huge amount of power can be as much of a curse as a blessing, especially if you can't control it well. Collateral damage, anyone?

Of course, that weapon may backfire if you tried to use it on Farfarello.
