Almost done!
Got what abilities I've got so far entered into the zanpakato generator: http://www.magatsu.net/zanpakuto/
Naturally, I need more. :) See previous two posts for details.
You'll note that the technique doesn't match the name all of the time. This is because the name is generated out of combinations and permutations of four files containing lists of terms, and I only have one of those files tied to the abilities. So any names that don't use that file get generic abilities and not specific ones. But it's OK, as 8 out of the 11 permutations use that file, so a large number of the abilities should be thematic. :)
ETA: And yes: the shield of stinging nettles shows up on all the plant-related ones, because that's the only plant-related ability I've got at the moment. :D
It'll be ready to go live once I feed more abilities into it. Also, feel free to send me permutations of sentences. The variables are:
[$zanpakuto] (name of the weapon)
[$command] (in the form of an active verb, for the most part)
[$shikai] (no verbs, describes the weapon, in the form of "an unusual, black katana with ribbons on the hilt")
[$ability] (in the present tense, in the form of "produces a cloud of poisonous vapor 10 meters in diameter")
[$sealed] (the shape a sealed zanpakuto takes, simple noun, in the form of "an umbrella")
So my sentences look something like (backslashes allow the quotation marks to print properly):
When $zanpakuto is unsealed with the command \"$command!\" it transforms into $shikai, and $ability.
Unseal this zanpakuto with the command \"$command, $zanpakuto!\" It resembles $shikai and $ability.
$zanpakuto is carried sealed into the form of $sealed. At the command \"$command, $zanpakuto!\" it transforms into $shikai. It $ability.

Once I get enough abilities in, I'm going to fix my checking function that is supposed to keep duplicates from happening. It doens't work right now* which is GOOD because it would go into an infinite loop on plants if it were working.
* Right now it compares the first ability to the second ability. If they match, it re-does the second ability, but it doesn't check again, so it *can* pick the same ability twice if the random-number generator pops up the same number again.
