Art prompts generator
OK, so I'm thinking on a suggestion by
vom_marlowe for an art prompt generator. I think I'm going to have to offer the choice between simple (i.e. one word or short phrase) and elaborate (more description and elements) prompts, because there's lots of people out there who seem to get better inspiration from shorter prompts than I do. (e.g., something like "Years" or "Blue" as opposed to "What we do not regret. Blue, melancholy" or "The forest at noon. Happy")
The simple prompts are easy enough to do: giant list of single words and short phrases, pick one at random. It's the elaborate ones that are more difficult (especially because you need to take things like grammar and capitalization into account). I'm thinking they should be something like: The picture is mostly green and features two characters in elaborate clothing. Elements include a mask and wind. "The time when we cannot meet." Yeah, it sounds a lot like my fic generators. Deal.
What I need from you are various prompts like that - I made the fic generators by creating sample prompts, then generating structures and rules from them. Don't worry about grammar and capitalization: I'll worry about that. They don't even have to be original - just pop down short descriptions of pictures you like if you can't come up with anything. They're all going to end up with different words plugged into them anyway. :)
(er, just to make it clear - I don't need examples of the sentences below with new words plugged in. I need different descriptions. :D)
More examples: "The portrait has a sense of melancholy. The person is looking off into the distance and has blue eyes."
"The landscape in the picture is mountainous and bathed in morning sunlight. The characters in it are in conflict. It is a pre-modern setting."
"There is an air of menace in this black-and-white picture. The theme is 'the promised land.'"
(Gah. Why do I get the feeling that this will be combination fic and character generator?)

Use more than one art style in combination with each other (pointillism and watercolor, for example).
The realization that everything you've just done has been a mistake and you have only a half hour to fix it.

The character's emotion is giddy; the main color of the picture is blue green; the pose is woman sitting; the style is impressionist.
A woman with wings in an urban landscape with pillars and horses. Theme: zen koan.
Character A does X verb to Character B; theme: Kink from Kink List; color scheme Color A and Color B; Include the following cool bits: A, B, C.

I can't really come up with any ideas to help you though. When I try and describe pictures I like I get sentences that sound like I've been reading "Pretentious art critics for Dummies". For example:
Modern media used to evoke a traditional and strangely otherworldy feel.
The focus is on a gritty and dynamic character with a strong sense of purpose.
Vibrant colours are used to create a sense of passion and urgency.
I could keep going, but I think I'd only embarrass myself and possibly make people wonder what the hell I've been looking at :D

No, it's helpful. There should always be a certain amount of pretension, otherwise it's not art. XD

Evoke an emotion contrary to that which is obviously displayed by the subjects within the piece.
Prepare a piece in a style other than pop, abstract or post-modern using 5 or fewer colors and minimal blending.
Reverse or flip your perspective, orientation or point of view on any piece you have previously created and recreate that piece.
Experiment with lighting: Degree of lighting, angle, harshness, origin, single and multiple sources, color of lighting.

Theme: trying to remember. Includes a human or humanoid figure and some sort of container. Contrasts in focus should be used.
Theme: we stand together. A small group of companions defy opposing forces. Picture should not depict actual combat. Setting/atmosphere should be timeless.
Theme: melody barely heard. Should contain at least one living (animate) being. Principal colors should be actual neutrals or shade capable of functioning as neutral.
