(no subject)

I am *so* having an L moment here.[*] Last month, one of the librarians at my workplace ran a chocolate-tasting session because she apparently has a Sekrit Life as a chocolate expert of some ilk, where I discovered through the blind taste testing that the chocolate I usually get doesn't taste anywhere enar as good as some other (more expenseve, natch) ones. I'm finally in Central Market today buying gourmet salt[**] and I remember than the one I liked was sold here, so I get a box. It's Scharffen Berger semisweet, comes in a 9.7 oz box, sold in the baking section.

And now I'm at my desk, open it up and discover that it's in one solid piece, not a bunch of small pieces. And I'm too lazy to get up and try to find something to hack peices off of it with, not to mention my bad track record with hacking things up and remaining physically intact, so I decide not to worry about it. And a little while later realize that I'm gnawing on a brick of chocolate. Luckily my cat is the only creature around to see, and she's snoozing away on the couch next to the big warm lamp, waiting for me to go to bed so she can sleep on the office chair all night long.

I'm sure there was supposed to be a point in there somwhere.

[*] Er. It's a Death Note thing.
[**] Smoked salt. Honest. A friend of mine had some - it's really good, and a little goes a loooong way. Paired with pink peppercorns for a fruity pepper taste.

Who needs a point when you so funny?

XD I do recommend smoked salt, though. Cost me $10 for a jar of it, but it only requires a teeny little bit to flavor your food, so it's going to last for months. My friend had three types, including gray salt and something else, and they each had a different flavor.

And now my head hurts; I had a small generic allergy/weather-change headache this morning, then managed to bang my head on the doorframe of the car, not bad enough to be really painful or even anywhere near the worst bang on the head I've ever had, but my headache's seized on it as an excuse to get worse, I think. Woe is me! *whine*

Umm...honey? Do you have Trader Joe's in your area? We usually carry that chocolate and I don't recall it being a big block (I'll try to remember to check when I go in :D) So that way you could eat it in public. :D

No, we don't seem to have it here. :) I am so far stuck with chocolate bricks from Central Market.

It's not too bad - I eat less at a sitting than otherwise, because gnawing at the hunk like a rat makes me rather self-conscious. :)

LOL! Very true indeed. Well, I'll take a look at what we've got and if you would like some for public consumption, let me know. I have a bunch of stuff to mail out in the week, I can just tack that onto my list.

Heehee - ok thanks. :)

We have Milk Chocolate, Dark Chocolate and I think Milk w/ Almonds (I have an order guide in the other room...I could check) for about $2 a bar...and they're more normal sized bars.... Let me know if you want me to pick some up.

Sadly, there are NO Trader Joes anywhere in Texas. A truly deplorable situation that is unlikely to change any time in the near future.
