D.Gray-Man

The inks of the next piece for A-Kon. Haven't figured out how I'm going to color it.

Yuu Kanda from D.Gray-Man. That would be the manga version, as I think they made some character design changes for the anime, but I've never seen the anime.

For those of you keeping score, his Bishounen Type would be Brooding.

Ooo, I was hoping it would be Kanda. Hairsopretty. ♥ Love the jacket too. Very nice!

:D Thank you! The jacket was so annoying to do that if I do any other D. Gray-Man characters, I'll find some way to do them without the jacket, or to obscure the Rose Cross. XD

There's always shirtless!

They cut the shirtless scene in the anime. I was sosad.

The jacket does just sort of reach out and grab ya, doesn't it? (Of course, so does the hair ... ). You do such great work!

I couldn't find a panel that had all, or even most, of the detail on the jacket, so I spent a lot of time flipping back and forth through volume 2 last night. XD

I think the mangaka is INSANE for creating something with that level of detail for his/her main characters. No wonder they keep losing their jackets, or having to take them off and bind up wounds or something. And the mangaka couldn't ever quite decide how to draw the collar, so it changed subtly from one panel to the next, or was conveniently obscured by hair or speech bubbles.

I was so crossing my fingers and hoping it would be Kanda when I clicked the cut......Hooray for brooding, grumpy samurai guys. His hair is very nice and the jacket is awesome.

:D Thank you!

See? See? It was a good suggestion. ;)

Wish I could see the actual pic. Damn work blocking Photobucket. ;_; Will have to check it out this weekend!

:( I'd suggest my DA page, where I have it also, but I suspect your work blocks that, too, if it blocks Photobucket.

Yay, can see! Very nice. :D Re: your earlier comments about the complexity of some of the artist's design choices...s/he did have a breakdown or illness of some kind that put the series on hiatus for months. The art style was noticeably different once it resumed. One wonders if the complexity paved the road to freakout.

I can see that: you have to do a zillion times more work in the same amount of time that, say, Naruto is drawn, which probably leads to lack of sleep and going insane from not being able to do anything else but draw.
