That's a bit more informal and simple than what I'm thinking of. :) i'm trying to do a picture full of detail - think of the covers of the manga. Thsi is the sketch so far:
(a) I don't need to stick to canon for this - think of the manga covers, which are fantasies of art and ahve nothing to do with the contants. The design of the actual manga tends to be very plain except for wreaths of smoke, and that not what I'm going for.
Cool chair. Hm. I think I want to stay away from things already similar to the manga.
(hard, I know, as she spends a lot of time lounging on things XD)
I am still quite grateful for your help - I'm figuring out what I don't want in the pic, which is just as good as what I want ... this way I can narrow in on whatever the perfect background is. :) Thanks!
If 1920s is what you're after, how about something by Le Corbusier? Maybe this (http://www.steelform.com/uk/lc4.html) or the chaise portion of this (http://www.futoncreations.com/corbusier-sectional-ltchaise.html).

She's really more leaning *on* the thing as she's reclining...
(it started as a more abstract Art Nouveau piece and ende dup 1920, so the background is going from random stuff to a wee bit mroe realistic)
