Anime: Mushishi ep 2

The cat woke me up at 5:30 and I was too awake to go back to sleep, and just lying there with all my worries going through my head wasn't working for me, so I got up and watched episode #2 of Mushishi. This one follows chapter #3, I believe, of the manga - the River of Light episode.

Well ... overall a good episode, but the effect where the mushi come out of Sui's eyes? So not working in video. It wasn't so much spooky as hilarious.

Really? I thought it was more like AAAGH AAAGH GUSHING EYES EYE TRAUMA AAAUGH EYES DOING THINGS EYES ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO DO

It was way too much and over-the-top for me. I was more like "Dude, if all that had been in her eyes, her head should have exploded by now!" And the goop was too ... goopy, for want of a better word. If they'd done the CG so it looked more like individual particles instead of one giant mass of semisentient pudding it might have been more convincing to me, albeit way more expensive, I grant.

Have you seen the movie The Stuff?

Low budget horror movie. White goop oozes out of the ground. Guess what? It is *delicious*! Oh no, it is a lifeform or some such thing that takes over your body!

One of the very last episodes dealing with eyes is a LOT creepier. :O

I rather liked the effect of how his eye looked after he gave the fake eye to the child.
Though the real reason why his eye is like that is far more sinister and shocking, at least to me it was.
I was just thankful that someone actually subbed the last episode as the licensers of Mushishi sent out letters of "Cease and Desist" to subbers to stop doing their handy work just as we were waiting for the last episode to be released.... Why????
I think I spent nearly half a day watching my stock of episodes because I was so hooked on it.
I really liked that anime and I hope to make an AMV for it as well.
The public needs to know about Mushishi.

But all the episodes were subbed or was this a recent (cease and desist) development?

I was right before the subbers of Mushishi were about to get finished and release the last episode. They recieved that letter and stopped.
Thankfully some other people out there decided to sub it even though and we got to watch it to the max.

Ahh ... I'm glad I got to see it through the end :D But methinks it is a portent of things to come~
