Oh good god.

One of my RL/LJ/DA friends has been accused of art theft. Why? Because she drew ... a blue tiger with silver wings. The accuser has a character that is a blue tiger with silver wings and is apparently under the impression that nobody else in the entire universe would be capable of thinking of the concept of a blue tiger with silver wings without having come across it before.

Not linking to any of it, to honor my friend's wish not to cause more drama. Just posting about it because I feel like bitching.

Uh... what? I don't think the accuser really has a case. And I hope your friend is proven the better artist.

Migod! AT LAST, proof that those people with the fancy jeweled winged cat sculptures owe my nine-year-old self royalties! I better get all the back interest on that, too. Sweet, that ought to pay for my MA.

I declare a moratorium on handsome tall slender men who are missing an eye and have floppy dark hair, because they are all now MINE.

You'll let me share, right?

[identity profile] cicer.livejournal.com 2007-03-03 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
Well! Clearly now I can accuse anyone who has a character with a facial scar of plagarism, because one of my original characters has a facial scar. They're obvious copying my idea!

D'oh. Teh stoopid, it burns.

[identity profile] mrssakurapotter.livejournal.com 2007-03-03 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
Ah! A blue tiger? With Silver wings???
Hey, I DREW THAT FIRST!
Yea! I distinctly remember, it was in the first grade.
So really, they are both theives.

*wink*

Yea... that's an example of how ridiculous the accuser sounds. To paraphrase what rayechu said, I hope your friend blows the "orginal" outta the murky copyrighted waters with copy-cat tiger sharks.

My friend's version looks like a tiger. The other one looks like a soggy moggy.* XD

* Wet cat. Dunno how familiar people are with the British term "moggy" for a cat. :D

Funny, my grandma called mice moggies. Weird.

I'm totally on Em's side in this. And BTW, if you go through the person's gallery, she has several drawings she did of copyrighted characters.

I'm just getting angrier the more I think about this, so I'm going to shut up now.

SOmeone I watch on DA was accused of art theft (by someone who was not the artist of the supposed original) a year or so back. There were several problems however:

1) The only similarity between the pictures was that each had a girl holding a lamp.

2) The artists knew each other and had discussed the picture before drawing it.

3) The picture that was accused of being a ripoff had been posted two months before the supposed original. :)

People are STUPID.

Hahahahaha! Too Funny!

I wasn't familiar with it. Thank you!

I learn something new every day.

I love the word. I try to use it whenever I can. XD

[identity profile] mrssakurapotter.livejournal.com 2007-03-03 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
Lol. Fun word!
Requesting permission to use sir! *salutes*
Wouldn't want to be sued for copyright infringement. Hahahaha.

Anywho, I'm heading off to bed. (I have to take a french exam tomorrow, then head to work. Ugh.)
Tell your friend not to worry--even strangers like me... with candy?

I am reminded of the youngsters who scream "plagiarism" over similar storylines. They keep using that word, and I know it does not mean what they think it means.

Ha! The tards are abundant this year. Must be the wet and snowy early spring.

Obviously, it hasn't been cold enough. Now they'll all be competing for food during the summer and that's just sad to watch.

[identity profile] matildarose.livejournal.com 2007-03-03 06:09 pm (UTC)(link)
If I remember right, wasn't there this case where someone accused someone else on DA of plagarism because of the latter person drawing a pink horse/tiger/whatever with wings?

I think the response was that everyone and their grandma drew that exact pink thing with wings and uploaded it to DA.

This should happen again.

Yikes. People are just crazy sometimes.
