20 min., 3.9 mi.
Total: 142.8 Left the Road, headed north into Chetwood.

You should be properly impressed at the distance I did today, because I not only stayed right around 12 mph, up from my more usual 10 mph, but I did it with the resistance turned up one more notch. I am all the way up to three now. Woo.

I am also down about 15 pounds from when I started - as of Monday morning. Tuesday morning it was back up 1, but since I threw caution to the winds and ate more on Saturday night (well, drank ... 3 rum-and-Cokes do add up), and then ate like a serious pig on Monday (IHOP, then Schlotzsky's), I'm not in the least bit surprised. And not in the least bit guilty, either: any normal eating pattern is going to include a day or two of scarfing it down every now and then; it's when it becomes more often than every now and then that it becomes a problem. After years of watching my female relatives complain about their weight and try to eat well during family holiday gatherings, I made a vow never to be concerned about what I eat during holidays or other special occasions, because it's annoying as hell.* And since I'm not the sort to go to a whirlwind round of holiday parties, it works for me. Ironically, however, except for the occasional pumpkin-pie breakfast, I tend to eat fairly decently during Christmas and Thanksgiving.** XD

* I also cherish a small fantasy of showing up having lost a lot of weight, and when they start telling me how good I look and complimenting me on it, snapping that I am getting far more validation for losing weight than I did for either of my two MAs put together, and thus I know exactly where this family's priorities lie, but I suspect I am too chicken to do so. Maybe I'll just content myself with eating a lot of high-calorie foods in front of them every time someone complains about their weight.

** OK, the lactose intolerance helps, because I tend to stay away from dairy-heavy foods when not in my own home, in case the pills choose that time not to work, which means there's a lot of calorific foods that I don't eat.

Heh. I hear you. I quit talking about school, they quit asking about when I'm getting married. Weird sort of peace treaty, but I take what I can get.

Mmmm, rum and coke.

Huge congratulations on all your biking~! I went up to 2 resistance the other day myself! I find I can bike a lot faster if I'm watching action anime. I'm so damn shallow. What do you usually watch?

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2007-02-28 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
I worked my way through the first season of Slayers, which was great, but since they're repeating it, I'm afraid I'll have to kick my Netflix subscription back up to 3-at-a-time and start working on the second season, unless I can find it at the nearby Blockbuster. I've got the Tivo capturing Yu Yu Hakusho as a backup plan, and the once-weekly showings of Lupin III from whatever channel it's showing on, but Slayers was most excellent.

The Tivo occasionally shows me Fruits Basket, but it's not actiony enough to go fast. Tonight I watched a good chunk of the latest ep of The Worst Jobs in History (hosted by Tony Robinson, woo) from History International, but it still was a bit slower than Slayers.

Oooh, maybe I'll bump Slayers up in my queue.

Fruits Basket was too slow for me, too, though I did feel all relaxed and happy afterwards, which was a bonus. I had the best luck with Samurai Champloo, but I can't rewatch it. I've got Trinity Blood and like it a lot, but its 3rd disc is the dreaded unavailable--also unavailable are disc one of Revolutionary Girl Utena, and the first ten or so discs of Yu Yu Hakusho. I tried Inuyasha, and I'm sure it's okay, but the thought of 42 discs of it made me want to go lie down. I've got a Gundam Wing disc that's just arrived--I've never tried the gundams, maybe there'll be enough of the beautiful men to overcome the mecha. My backup plan is usually Buffy, but I'm pretty burned out on that right now.

I started watching Gundam Wing waaaaaaaay back in the distant past when I was watching actual videotapes and my local rental store didn't have tape 3 and for some reason refused to buy another copy. I hate missing big chunks of serial stories, so I quit watching.

I've seen most of InuYasha here and there, although every ep is pretty much the same. The Tivo gets it, but every couple of weeks I go into the To Do list and delete all the episodes I've already seen that don't have Sesshoumaru in them. XD Eventually Cartoon network will get to the point past where I've seen them and I'll start watching again, but that'll be a while, I think.

*needs a Sesshoumaru icon*

[identity profile] vom-marlowe.livejournal.com 2007-02-28 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I hate missing chunks of story. What's up with not replacing the discs? Grumbles at Netflix. They won't even rebuy Le Pac Du Loup, which is the coolest werewolf movie ever.

I don't think I ever got to the Sesshoumaru bits. Possibly I'll try it again later, but 42 discs...that's a lot of commitment.

You'd think, with 352 items in my queue, that I'd have stuff I was OMG can't wait to see, but I feel sort of like I'm flipping cable channels on Sunday afternoon. Naw, too dull, naw, too bright, naw too improbable, naw too realistic. *Snorts at self*

[identity profile] rayechu.livejournal.com 2007-02-28 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
Oh no, you should do it so you could blog about it. I think it is pretty annoying when the same kind of shit happens in my family .

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2007-02-28 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
My mother would "Oh, Steph" me. You don't know exactly how devastating that is. XD

[identity profile] affreca.livejournal.com 2007-02-28 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
I know how you feel. Though my family has weird priorities. I got the most validation from joining the Navy. Not the only grandchild to finish high school, the only one to finish college, and the only one beside the 13 year old not to have kids as a teenager. Hmm...

[identity profile] assume-a-virtue.livejournal.com 2007-02-28 05:04 am (UTC)(link)
Oddly, I suggest some real world goodness? Try House, or The Dresden Files. The Dresden Files are much of the good watching.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2007-02-28 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
I have much House backed up on the Tivo, and my SciFi Channel comes in all pixelated. Every time I call the cable company about this, they send someone out to poke at it, it gets about 90% better for a couple of days, then slides right back again. I've given up calling them.

[identity profile] assume-a-virtue.livejournal.com 2007-02-28 05:11 am (UTC)(link)
Aw, that is suck. It's pretty good-- not the books, but for what it is, it's rather nice.

Um.

Firefly?

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2007-02-28 05:21 am (UTC)(link)
Hee. People keep recommending Firefly to me. I tell them it doesn't sound like it would appeal to me. They tell me I just need to watch the first ep. I say I have, and I hated all the characters. They say no, you need to watch the real first ep. I say, that's the one I watched: a Firefly fan made me sit down and watch it. They say: the characters change and get more interesting as the series goes on! I say: I can think of a lot of things I'd rather do than sit around watching episodes of a show I don't particularly care for on the off chance that I might start liking the characters better. :) And then they recommend Lost and I run screaming into the distance.

Fast-paced shounen anime is the perfect thing for my biking, actually. Anything that allows for reflection or for Deep Moments makes me drop out and remember how tired I'm getting. XD

[identity profile] assume-a-virtue.livejournal.com 2007-02-28 05:24 am (UTC)(link)
xD Alright. Hm. Berserk? No, probably not the best. Uh. Ouran, maybe? I only liked Slayers Next, honestly. TV was--kinda boring, and Try tried too hard.

I do wish you luck, though-- and you've inspired me to get on the bike, too. xD So.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2007-02-28 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
:D I'll find something-or-other, eventually. XD
