Lesson of the day

The sauce mix in the Tuna Helper Tuna Tetrazzini box? Highly flammable. Who knew?

I'm guessing that is much like how the powdered coffee creamer is highly flammable.

And flour, yeah. The problem was that the package the mix comes in is one of those that are really tough to open without sawing at it with a knife, and much like M&Ms or Skittles bags, tends to open suddenly, exploding its contents all over the place. And this time I was close enough to the burner that some landed on it and I got to witness the small fireball and then all the sparks as the dust in the air settled on it.

I immediately switched it off and moved the pot to another burner and cleaned the first one off after it was cool again, but that was a rather scary second and a half there before I realized it wasn't going to explode even worse. :)

I recommend this amazing tool known as Kitchen Shears. (/snark)

That requires me remembering to buy them when I'm in a place that carries kitchen shears.

WHOA COOL

You're kidding. O_O ...I'm torn between thinking, "ZOMG that's so scary!" and "Why don't things catch fire when I cook? My life is so boring." XD

The only other times I've caught something on fire were when I accidentally heated oil too long in the bottom of a pan. Luckily both times there wasn't much oil and it burned off very quickly. :D

Icon love. <3
Did it ruin the pan?

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2007-01-09 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
:D Nah - burnt off in a matter of a few seconds.

Really? o_o; That's kinda scary... I'm glad it didn't do any damage though~
