Anime art contest
Via
emtigereyes, TheOtaku.com is having an anime art contest for breast cancer awareness. Prizes include Wiis and PSP3s, if the idea of helping a good cause doens't do it for ya. :)
So ... who of you is going to help me come up with a winning idea? If I win, I'll ... er, send you a picture of the console? :/
Anyway, original characters only despite their inexplicably calling it "fan art."

The entries already up are here (http://fanart.theotaku.com/tags/awareness) - I expect that they'll get better and better as people have time to devote to images and the news of the prizes gets around.
(Hmmm ... popular things from my gallery have humor, sweetness, and a sense of a story behind the image ... arg)

There was a Canadian ad a few years back that was spread around the Net for breast cancer awareness that had a young man talking passionately about the need for early detection. And then he offered to help women check, as the camera pulled back and revealed he and a few of his friends sitting on a couch in a wood-paneled basement with hopeful expresssion on their faces. XD
(It's been over five years since I've seen it and I've slept since then, so I'm not sure about the details...but it was still funny.)

But that may be too...adult. And of course, I'm also of the opinion that funny sticks more in people's minds than Dark & Scary.

I'm impressed by the number of next-gen consoles they were able to secure. Dodging bullets for breast cancer.

(putting this where it makes sense no thanks to LJ's database flubs)

Early detection really is the key. Despite my own VERY overly-endowed anime-girlfriend style bazooms, I found said lump through self-examination, at just about the average size a woman who performs regular exams would find it (as opposed to about TRIPLE the size in a woman who doesn't check herself monthly). So if it is something bad, I found it early.
Have YOU checked your boobies lately? And I'm not being fresh. Breast cancer awareness is a HUGE thing for me, has been for many many MANY years, and I'm known to hand out pink ribbons and exam cards as gifts, nag friends mercilessly until they schedule their annual mammograms, not to mention how I coordinate team walks for the annual Revlon Run/Walk for Women out here in L.A. What irony that I'm now facing that fear personally....
Have some Jessica-boobies. Angelo checks them for her nightly. :D
