Your daily dose of the pretty...

Due to whimsy, a chance comment in my previous post has led to me creating [livejournal.com profile] bish_a_day, dedicated to hopefully posting at least one picture of a bishounen/biseinen/whatever a day. As your capricious and arbitraty comm owner, I'm limiting posting access to select members only - i.e., people I can trust not to be tools about it - although I trust you guys not to be tools and will grant you postign access. Naturally, anyone can watch or be a non-posting member and go nuts in the comments.

The comm rules, which I'm working up, will mostly be:

My capricious and totally arbitrary rules for members with posting access

1. Not all members have posting access. This is because I rule with an iron fist. And I hate you.

2. Focus on anime and manga bishounen - [livejournal.com profile] bishie_daily is where you can go to get your daily photo fix. Actors and models playing anime and manga characters in live-action movies, TV shows, and photo shoots are OK. Or if, y'know, you can't resist. But I expect an elaborate and entertaining justification for it!

3. LJ-cuts are your friends, especially when there's more than one image or it's large enough to screw up layouts. NSFW pics, behind cuts with a warning, please.

4. Let's try to stay away from all-icon posts, posts that are nothing but links to another LJ (give us at least one pic before sending us to your journal!), .

5. My definition of "bishounen" is loose - bishounen, biseinen, pretty animated guys, whatever. The farther away from traditional bishounen you get, the more creative a justification I expect!

My capricious and totally arbitrary rules for non-posting members, watchers, and drive-bys

1. Go nuts in the comments. Have fun. Drool, RP, pimp your art, your icons, random spammage, whatever. But don't whine to me if the original poster asks you not to do it, deletes your comment, screens it, freezes the thread, disables anonymous comments, gets one of the mods to ban you for being annoying, or in some way curtails your fun.

2. You can be granted posting access by participating in the comments a lot and not being an idiot. It may take a while for one of us to get around to granting it, though. :) Bribes will be considered.

3. Feel free to argue that a character isn't technically a bishounen. We won't actually pay any attention to you, but if it makes you feel better, you can complain. We here for the pretty, not the terminology.

Woo-hoo! I am currently trying to decide on the VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION of what layout to use.

[identity profile] mscongeniality.livejournal.com 2006-12-04 05:48 pm (UTC)(link)
That is, in fact, ABSOUTELY VITAL.

I would also point out that I am suitably amused enough so that I would consider shelling out the $5 for a month of paid time in which to create a custom (bishie laden) layout, too.

Woo, spiffy! :D I will admit to hesitating over the "Basic" vs. "Paid" account choice when creating it, so as to do that sort of thing, but my common sense won through a little bit. It'd be nice to have a clean, stylish layout rather than one of the LJ standards. :D

Suggestions for total rewrites of the rules - my main reason for doing them and restricting membership is for no icon-pimping posts or manga/doujinshi/whatever sales, while making it clear that I am not as strict as the [livejournal.com profile] yaoi_daily people about the content of comments - I am all about art pimping and icon pimping and fic pimping in the commetns, if it's relevant to the pictures. :)

This is definitely one of those 'more money than sense' moments but since I figure the amusement value on this is potentially pretty high, it might be worth it.

I'll think on the rules, but I totally agree with what you've got so far actually. Comments should be a bit of a 'free for all', but I have no problem with a [livejournal.com profile] scans_daily-type 'at least one image required for legality, illegal posts will be removed' limitation for the comm in general.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-12-04 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I should probably make it clear that it's for posting pictures, huh? XD

I'm limiting the posting access to start with just to make it less work for the mods, but if it seems worth it I'll throw posting access open.

* er, the rest of that sentence about the rewrites is "...welcomed". :)

I also like the fanficrants people's attitude towards tags, so plan on throwing tags open to mods or anyone, to generate some suitable amusing ones on posts. :)

YES. Hilarious tags are love.

YES YES YES! The mod tags are the best thing about ffrants, so whee.

I just randomly assigned you mod powers because you APPRECIATE THE POWAHS OF THE MOD TAGS!
