Aarg!

School is NOT cancelled today! Phooey! Temps didn't get quite low enough overnight to freeze, so the roads arr wet, not icy. But the temp is supposed to get lower over the day, so I claimed that I was worried about the highways icing on my commute home (well, it really is a worry since a lot of my drive is on an elevated highway) and am officially Working from Home.

Mind you, the 4.5 hours sleep caused by a midnight thunderstorm and waking up at 5:45 and being unable to get back to sleep is also a concern - I've got enough adrenalin now to be awake on the drive to work, but the drive home this afternoon would be scary.

I shall hole up in my apartment and brave the almost-freezing weather with only my cat and the internet for company. And I have to convince the cat that she really doesn't want the window open, natural fur coat or no.

ETA: I just looked out onto the back porch and, strangely, the old empty litterbox and the dead small not-quite-hand-vac, not-quite-vacuum-cleaner that I never remember to take to the trash when I'm going there are gone and the glass globe for the porch light is sitting on the ground. Huh. Suppose I ought to check the unlockable storage closet and see if my Neverending Supply of Cardboard Boxes and the two folding chairs are gone. Although it seems more like a mysterious trash collector and not a really desperate thief. I have no idea when they vanished, which should tell you how often I check the back porch.

ETA2: JUST got the campus email! We closed! Woooo!

Lucky you. I have a 30-mile commute over country roads (my U did not cancel either). I'm leaving now and plan to skip lunch and come home an hour early. I would have left earlier but did not want to drive in the dark.

:) I loooooove being able to work from home. And I looove that earlier this week the reference desk schedule got rearranged so that I don't have to do my 9AM shift today. Yay!

TWU cancelled! UTA cancelled! Why doesn't TCU cancel?! *whinge*

The drive in was OK. Some sleet and some hail, but drivers were going 55. I plan to leave early so I can get home before dark. It's pretty quiet here in the library today, though.

UNT did not cancel (at least not before 8 AM) and they are actually having some problems with ice on the bridges up there.

I'm surprised that UNT hasn't closed. And with TCU, I'm mostly sorry for the people who had to get to the library to open it at 7, to be told at 7:15 they were going home. :D At least they were able to get there to post signs on the door, if nothing else.

Looks like they are closing at 3 PM. My school closed at 12:30 (although there is a skeleton crew in the library until 5 PM), so I am home now. Finally gonna get those Christmas cards done!

*hangs out in Ohio outside in t-shirts, shorts, and flip-flops.*

Yay closed schools!

*sips iced tea and stares at your icon some more*

Only yesterday it was t-shirt, shorts, and flipflop weather. At 6:15ish I went into Target dressed in a waffle-weave shirt that was actually a bit too warm because the air was hot and muggy (for November - mid to high 70s). I left Target at 7:00 - and it was freezing outside, well comparatively - 45 degrees or so. That was the biggest drop in the shortest time I have any memory of experiencing.

Dancing Cyberman is hypnotic, isn't he?

It's not warm here, nor sunny -- just sort of calm and balmy. And 30 degrees in 45 minutes? Holy cow. Ohio's weather is crazy, but not that crazy.

Yes. I want to send you cash and a first-born, too. Not my first-born, but a first-born.

Once more, with a closed italics tag!

I could see the front coming in - the regular night sky was a deep, dark blue and the sky to the west was charcoal-grey. I knew it was possibly going to hit before I got out of the store, but I didn't realize it was going to hit quite that hard. XD

As we say down here in Texas, if you don't like the weather, wait a minute, it'll change. And usually we're serious.
