Torchwood ep 6

I actually sort of liked this week's ep. You know why?

Because after five weeks of "eh" I'd stopped expecting anything in the way of depth or characterization, so I could sit back and enjoy the brainless slasher flick.

Of course, the very last scene had me going "Why Owen? The guy's a skeeze and his lips are all weird!" Of course, it seems that there's nobody else macking on her with any degree of seriousness, so if she wants to get laid by someone she can talk to about the job, it's Owen or the pterodactyl.

Dang it, I haven't seen the episode yet, and now I have to go to bed. Why is it you always see it before I do? What's your secret?

Magic!

Thanks! That's good to know, in case I want to go that route. I was underwhelmed by this episode and also by the recent Heroes episode, although it was a little interesting to watch the Torchood episode before the latter.

I haven't even caught up on Dr. Who yet, let alone Torchwood which sounds like it's not as good, and yet that line kind of makes me want to see it.

Since we've dispensed with the notion that it's going to give us the kind of characterization and drama we want, the one thing that Torchwood *has* shown us is that there is a serious lack of pterodactyls in modern televised drama, and we are all the poorer for it.

Everything is better with pterodactyls.

...is it a talking pterodactyl? And is it Welsh?

We haven't heard it talk yet, but we're only on episode 6 - there's still time.

Presumably it's Welsh, though.

There's a pterodactyl? That's the first interesting thing I've heard about this show!

I still haven't forgiven Lost for not giving us invisible dinosaurs.

Yup! :D

So the question remains - what did the poor pterodactyl do to put her off?

I share your disappointment. I thought the series was okay for now - I can forgive a few eps of general build up, but no. They pissed it away.

My biggest problem with this ep (apart from general eww) was that until that first snog in the Cyberwoman ep, there was no discernable vibe between Owen and Gwen. Nothing. Loads of vibe with Jack, natural chemistry, plus, well, Jack - but Owen? Nothing. So where has this come from? Why? The man's plain ugly, and annoying and arrogant. Where would Gwen get off on that?

Okay, I'll stop ranting there. I'm an eternal optimist, so perhaps the pterodactyl will come out of the shower some time soon and we'll find everything after ep 3 was just a dream...

I will admit, when I first saw the bare chest emerge from behind Gwen, for half a second I thought it was Jack, and then I saw the face and went "Awwww, not him!"
