Every so often, usually after a marathon session of reading the unending, pitch-dark, sulfer-scented morass that is fandom_wank, I get coldly cynical about the state of the Intarweb and the denizens thereof.

And then I run across something like [livejournal.com profile] gayatheistspy, a new community dedicated to fannishness about a nonexistent Renaissance series called Marlowe: Gay Atheist Spy, and suddenly all is right with the world.

Check the userinfo for links to the posts that spawned the idea for the show. *resists urge to make manga for it*

This is exactly the idea [livejournal.com profile] pornkings discussed waaaay back in the dawn of time about inventing fake animanga series to have discussion about/write fanfiction for. I guess it's one of those things that is both totally off the wall and at the same time so obvious that you wonder why no one thought of it before...and it turns out that someone has.

(Marlowe/Shakespeare! I wish I was more of an Elizabethan lit geek, really I do.)

I suppose you could draw doujinshi.
