Ninja Turtles

via [livejournal.com profile] mistressrenet - a Japanese fanart of the Ninja Turtles that reimagines them in a totally different way. (And the commentors think the turtles all play different traditional social roles and are trying to pin down what Michelangelo is supposed to be.)

I love it when people take the time to re-imagine concepts like that! Donatello being a monk just seems very natural too.

Michelangelo isn't a yamabushi, is he? One of those mountain ascetics who just train and train and train, trying to reach a new spiritual plane?

He might be. There's a commentor saying that his outfit is exactly like the Monk class from Final Fantasy.

That is the sweetist TMNT fanart I've ever seen!
*luvluvluv* it!
Mikey looks like a Shaolin monk to me?

Those guys are allowed to act a lot goofier than the traditional ideas of the samurai and ninja. I think they're considered less civilized. (Benkei (the mythological version, anyway) was pretty badly-behaved.) So, I guess it fits.

That rocks in so many ways.
