YOUR JOB, SHOULD YOU CHOOSE TO ACCEPT IT...
...is to tell me tomorrow, "TELOPHASE! WHY ARE YOU NOT DRAWING NAKED MEN?" Because the Yaoicon anthology pictures are due SUNDAY and I have to have FOUR TO FIVE and I have ONE.
In other news, went to Borders today at lunch for my twice-monthly manga-buying spree (hey! I had a coupon!) and ended up getting books 1-4 of the Kingdom Hearts manga. Have read book 1 so far. Observations:
In other news, went to Borders today at lunch for my twice-monthly manga-buying spree (hey! I had a coupon!) and ended up getting books 1-4 of the Kingdom Hearts manga. Have read book 1 so far. Observations:
1) If I hadn't played the game, I'd have no idea what was really going on.
2) I am amazed at how well the manga style blends with the Disney style. Kudos to Shiro Amano for managing that. And it really, really, really goes to show that it's the layout, visual flow, and storytelling that makes manga slightly different than American comics. I know that "manga" is applied in Japan to all sorts of comics, not just Japanese-produced ones, but BY DAMN there are stylistic traits that are common to a lot of Japanese comics that are different in a lot of American comics!
3) I really like the art style, which is well-defined lines, hatching, and minimal tones, used mostly to fill in flat areas.
4) I miss Sora jumping like a frog, which he does all the time in the gamebecause I press the jumpy button way more than I ought because I love his jumpy-frognessand does not at all in the manga.
5) Anyone who can manage to make me an icon of Sora jumping like a frog will getMASSIVE AMOUNTS OF LOVEONE MILLION INTERNET DOLLARS.
6) There is almost no character development whatsoever. This was not entirely unexpected.
