:D Low-opacity brush, at 15-20%, and putting down a few strokes of color, picke dup from the skin bars on the left, then picking up the color enarby and laying a few strokes of that into the previous, then picking up the color formed from the meeting of the two and laying a few strokes of *that* over the colors. Shampoo, rinse, repeat until you can't stand it and have to go work on another section.
Oh - I went into a wee bit of detail on how I am doing it on TpopSpace (http://www.tokyopop.com/telophase/art/27107.html).
The skin colros aren't popping, or looking luminescent like I'd really like to happen, but frankly, I would like to actually finish a realistic-style painting more than I would like to fuss with luminescence, so I am ignoring that. :D
I finally ahd to break down and admit that I'm not as familiar with facial structure as I ought to be, and pull out reference on where all teh small planes of the face are located. XD
:D I've looked at it so long that I can't tell if it's snarly enough or not. Things lose all inherent emotion to me after I've been staring at them and trying to work on them for so long.
