Hello, wilkommen, bienvenue!

Yes! It's time for yet another Welcome and Who the Heck Are Ya? post! I seem to have gathered another round of people who inexplicably like reading the vast amounts of piffle I produce, so I figured I'd post and say hello and invite you to say hello back, if you want, and let me know how you found this place. :) As well as my periodic disclaimer of why I don't automatically friend people back the way I used to: I read over 200 LJs right now and even with my vast talents for procrastination, some days it's hard to keep up, so I've drastically cut back my friending. And I don't get hurt if you defriend me and wander on, either.

And if you don't feel like talking about that, here's another topic: last night I dreamed Sephiroth and I were providing security for Queen Elizabeth I. Discuss.

Must've been the night for dreaming of one-winged angels. Except my dream is fuzzy and when I sorta woke up in the half-awake, half-dream state where nothing makes sense and everything is scary, I thought that Sephiroth had taken possession of my Alucard bust and then I was really frightened because that is too much scary, sexy evil in one room. So I moved the Alucard bust away from my bed (he stares at my rabbit now) and went back to sleep....and the power went out thirty minutes later. Anyway, my LJ was made for me by [livejournal.com profile] rayechu and she put people on my friends list that she thought that I would find interesting...and that is why you are there, and indeed you are interesting, so erm, good enough explanation?

It's your winning personality and sexy icons that keep 'em coming.

last night I dreamed Sephiroth and I were providing security for Queen Elizabeth I. Discuss.

Were there ruffles involved? I don't think Sephiroth would show much love for the ruffles.

Also, I love the Blazing Saddles reference.

Oh, then you've met my grandmother! She too was with Queen Elizabeth last night, at a resort. Were there rocks and waves?

On the other hand, I suppose it might have been a different Queen Elizabeth.

I dreamed I was attacked by a croissant. I could have at least used Sephiroth to protect me by eating it.

Shirley recommended me because I just recently found bpal.

Well, her throne room appeared to be in my grandparents' old living room, actually.

And then I eventually went outside and there was some sort of bizarre M. Night Shyamalan-feeling thing involving some college students attmepting to make a movie and a basement lined with plastic and filled with ice and snow that had been shoveled out and I was checking it for something-or-other. Presumably security-related, since I was still in QEI's security forces. And then Sephiroth and I went on some sort of job-related trip - this might actually be the resort, come to think of it, since there was ocean outside the windows - and he found my dad's watch and wore it.

So, yeah, I may have met her. And regarded her suspiciously, since I was Security, after all. :D

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-08-15 06:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee. :D The BPAL hivemind spreads! I just got Christy into it, and she pimped Lush bath products at me, so we're all in one big consumer scent orgy right now.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-08-15 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee. :D

Sephiroth and Alucard together in one bust ... that is scary. And sexy. And scary.

Keep an eye on the bunny and see if anything happens to it.

[identity profile] frostedelves.livejournal.com 2006-08-15 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow. I think I have to ask her if she saw you or Sephiroth, now. XD

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-08-15 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I didn't note any ruffles - he wore pretty much what he always wears. He and I were stationed on either side of the throne, a little bit behind it, so all we saw of QEI was her skirt. I knew it was her, because it was an ornate, gold Tudor/Elizabethan skirt reminiscent of the one she wears in this portrait (http://images.beckett.com/celebriducks/queen_elizabeth/queen_elizabeth2.jpg), only without the dots so prominent. And more gold.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-08-15 06:55 pm (UTC)(link)
:D I'm not entirely sure what I was wearing, but Sephiroth was in his usual black leather getup. In my grandparents' living room, we were flanking the throne, a bit behind it.

I didn't get to see what we were doing in the place with the ocean, since I was wandering through staff rooms at the time. But Sephiroth would have been wearing his usual getup ... plus a digital watch. XD

I don't think so ... they were so discreet that I never saw them. XD I was in charge of magic, I think, and did things like make sure food wasn't poisoned, while Spehiroth took care of physical attacks.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-08-15 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll let him know the next time I see him. :D

[identity profile] worstangel.livejournal.com 2006-08-15 06:57 pm (UTC)(link)
That's very pretty, but it looks distinctly uncomfortable in the portrait. On a side note, did you ever see Elizabeth with Cate Blanchett? The costumes were so very pretty in that movie, although every time I saw the Duke of Norfolk, I wanted to cringe a little bit.

[identity profile] darkelf105.livejournal.com 2006-08-15 07:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I shall, but I think she could take Alucard...maybe. She totally beat my dog down and snuggles with a cat...so a crazy vampire might not be so tough for little Usagi. People tell me she looks a bit like Bunnicula....

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-08-15 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I haven't seen it yet. It's one of those on my list of Movies I Keep Meaning To See. Tudor, Elizabethan, and Stuart costuming I love, though, and if it weren't that I have no time and no real desire to get back in, I'd rejoin the SCA just to make Tudor, Elizabethan, and Stuart clothing (even though the Stuarts are technically out of period).

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-08-15 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee. In that case, keep an eye on the bust and see what happens to *it*. XD

hi and um, i'm here for sanzo . . . ?

[identity profile] worstangel.livejournal.com 2006-08-15 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I stayed up until 4 or 5 one night to watch it, and it was worth it. It's a good movie with some very talented actors, and I hear a sequel about Elizabeth I's Golden Age is in the works, since Elizabeth ended relatively early in terms of Elizabeth I's actual reign. Commence the clothes-gasm.

What's the SCA? I'm sorry, I've got this massive throbbing headache that's temporarily shut down the smart part of my brain, so all I can think of is the ASPCA.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-08-15 07:14 pm (UTC)(link)
So am I.

Sanzo is always a good reason!

Society for Creative Anachronism. (http://www.sca.org/) Medieval and Renaissance historical re-creation. I did it in undergrad and a couple of years after that, but stopped when I went away to grad school. It can be incredibly fun or incredibly lame, and it all depends on the particular group you're in, what their focus is, and if it meshes with your interests. And how many of the members are insane nutbars. As in all fandoms, you can get really interesting, well-read, fascinating people, or you can get crazy Harmonians.

What, do they slash Mary, Queen of Scots/Elizabeth I? I'd pay admission to see crazy like that.

*waves* I'm Sosiqui. I noticed that I kept seeing you pop up or be referenced in places that I frequent - and I like reading people who have things to say about anime and such that actually has some thought put into it, rather than just the random squeeing that seems to be all I'm capable of.

Was sporadically reading without friending for a while, like how I read [livejournal.com profile] cleolinda's LJ, until the Gunlock posts came up. I roffled my waffles, realized I could get crack delivered direct to the flist, swallowed my "eek somewhat well-known internet person!!" fear and hit the little button. o_o don't eat me.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-08-15 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
*snerk* They may do so now, but I haven't been in it since ... er, 1994 or so. XD

You get wars between the equivalent of canon nazis ("Mistress Laurel Seamchecker" - Laurels are people who've gotten awards for their arts and crafts skills) vs. fanon nazis (people who are there just to have fun and drink and don't mind sitting around a campfire singing Beatles songs), which leaves the people who try hard to hide evidence of modern life but don't go so far as to wear period underwear (except for corsets, which are necessary for proper Renaissance clothing) or get contacts so they don't have to wear glasses when in garb, out to lunch.

Hey, did you happen to do a fanart of Haruhi a little bit ago?
