No wonder I always eat ice...

...it seems to make my headache better. Well, the four Advil might have had something to do with it too, but it didn't lessen until two hours after taking them. And we just had an ice-cream social here at work and I took my LactAid up there with me and had a small bowl, and my head feels even better. An hour ago it was bad enough that I was thinking of staying just long enough to make a token apperance at the social thing and then going the hell home.

Must test in a few days and see if it's the coldness or if it's the Advil. Or both. Throwing a box of some form of popsicle in the freezer as therapy is doable.

It would make sense if it was the ice! Though I'd be surprised you hadn't noticed it until recently.

For quick headache relief, I often take ibuprofen with caffeine or sugar. I don't know if there's any sort of connection there either.

It's probably just pesky parasites, y'know.

There's a lot of things that I don't always notice. :) I had a doctor tell me once online that caffeine hastens the absorption of NSAIDs like ibuprofen, and if your pain is caused by vasoconstriction, caffeine, which is a vasodilator, would help with that as well.

Yeah. CRAWLING AROUND INSIDE MY BRAIN!

Low blood sugar can also cause fatigue and headaches. So it may not have just been the cold, but also the sugar in the ice cream.

I know that low blood sugar can trigger ehadaches and migraines for me. But in this case I'd taken an early lunch because I felt the headache coming on, and even fed my headache kept continuing to worsen from 11 until shortly before 2.

It seems to be a complex phenomemon with me, with lots of little triggers, which makes trying to pick apart what works and what doesn't difficult.

Well then. I say take up a recreational heroin habit to dull the pain, and slowly let it spiral out of control until you end up broke and in rehab. You'll be like every VH1 special EVAR!

I think that is the most sensible suggestion yet.

I'm here because I care.

And because I deal heroin.

You'll get to go on daytime talk shows and talk about how you battled your horrible addiction! You'll get a book deal, perhaps even a made-for-TV movie about your life! It'll be awesome!

THERE IS NO DOWN SIDE!

Another thing to consider is that both the urge to chew ice and frequent headaches are symptoms of extreme iron deficiencies, which are fairly common especially in women who are past their mid-twenties. I know this only because two of my coworkers were recently diagnosed and treated for that.

Might be worth checking into if you haven't.

Hm. Yeah. Once I go to the doctor, I'll bring it up. :D
