[Poll #788740]

I'll be there but I won't be at the con till Sat since I have to work Fri night. If you need help on Sat and Sun, let me know too. I can also help out on Monday as well. I'll write more tonight when I get to work about con stuff.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-08-09 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
OK, cool, thank you! :D I'll have to decide wheter I'm going to ahve the table Monday - Rachel's flight is fairly early (10:30, IIRC), so it'd probably be worth my while to come back to the con afterwards, so having someone to mind the table for bit (assuming it opens at 10) would be good, because I'll have to drop her off an hour or so before the flight and be back downtown fairly early in the day.

I'm not sure about Sat and Sun - Rachel will be here, but we may want to attend the same panel or something - but I'll figure out if I need you. I may actually need someone to sit at the table with me for a bit if Rachel wanders off - I can take more commissions if there's someone there to handle selling stuff.

[identity profile] puppleball.livejournal.com 2006-08-09 03:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll be there Friday night at the earliest (work and all) through Monday I believe. I'll let you know. We should be stationed in the same place as last year if you need anything.

Oh, and could I borrow your tele lens for my camera. Looks like I won't be able to get one until closer to xmas and that doesn't help for afest. I'd like to be able to get some good shots from the balcony in the evenings.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-08-09 03:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Cool, thanks.

Sure you can borrow it - Rachel and I may sneak up to the balcony if possible and I might borrow it back for a bit at those times, but I won't monopolize it. :)

[identity profile] yankeerose69.livejournal.com 2006-08-11 07:08 am (UTC)(link)
I'm actually pretty disappointed in the whole guest thing this yr. They could've done much better, hell, I just read that the Vegas con (same days as Afest) is getting Hellsing's creator. Which is also why I'm not wasting money on a weekend pass for the con, we're only going for the cosplaying. If something comes up and am desperate to see something that requires a pass, I may get one for that day, thats about it. Not only do I not have money to blow but half the stuff I've wanted, I found cheaper elsewhere and am content.

The only thing though, and it sounds weird this time me saying/asking this, is finding crash space. I wasn't going to be overly worried about if we stayed the night or not but since we might be drinking both Sat and Sunday night, I don't feel like driving back to the house. Do you know of anyone that is looking to cut back on room $? I think the dance that Greg spins for is Sat night and I love the music he plays so I might want to stay that night and iffy on Sunday, I guess it all depends on whats going on. It will only be 3 of us this time and not the crazy loud group that is usually with me. It's only me, my roomate, and her friend who is cosplaying with me. Beds are no problem since I can also bring my air mattress. But even if we don't stay over on Sunday night, I'll still come back to the con on Monday.

Also, about your migrane situation, my roomate is a massage therapist so maybe I can see if she could work on you if you want her to. (she's awesome in her field of work *nodsnodsnods*)

As for helping out, we'll definitely be prowling around considering who we are dressing up as so if you need me, just flag me down.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-08-14 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
Hee - sorry for not getting back any earlier, but I was checking it with my roommate and someone else who was a potential roomie.

Y'all are welcome to stay in our room Saturday and Sunday, and if you want I can even request a rollaway (although I don't know if they'll give us one). If so, provided I've got my math and the hotel tax right, it'd be $21.09/person for each of the nights.

(And oh yes, massage might help - I'm thinking it's tension pure and simple that's causing a lot of my problems. XD)

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

And so far you are only 1 of 3 who promised to post Sanzo in the comments and did so. I am SORELY DISAPPOINTED in you, [livejournal.com profile] teleute12 and [livejournal.com profile] homasse who have not yet done so!

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-08-09 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
[livejournal.com profile] homasse has been reprieved. For now.

I love that drawing. The style's so different but it's so them, and they all look so yummy (except Goku, who is just cute).

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-08-09 02:28 pm (UTC)(link)
:D It's a great style, with simplified lines and block coloring. XD

And for headaches, I recommend Manflesh Brand Happy Place (http://homasse.livejournal.com/665368.html).

Seriously, though, I got nothing for chronic tension headaches. Massive caffeine at the first signs of a migraine will help shorten the time you have those, but for tension, no clue.

Sanzo.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-08-09 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, nice. *basks in glow of manflesh*

I just decided today, after looking it up online, that this chronic feeling of pressure at the back of my head, which ebbs and flows but is never complteley gone unless I take migraine drugs, must be a chronic tension headache. I've decided to start keeping a headache diary so I can take it into the doctor in two months and say "LOOK! This is NOT NORMAL!"

Not that I think there's anything she can do about it, but some sort of professional validation would be nice.

[identity profile] homasse.livejournal.com 2006-08-09 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
It's good to keep a headache diary, since that's actuallyone of the first steps they have you do so they can figrue out what kind of headaches you have and what might be triggering it. Usually, though, you only have to keep one for a month.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-08-09 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
The website I was reading said two, but if I only have to do it one, SO MUCH THE BETTER!

It definitely gets worse when I'm stressed, and when I don't eat on a schedule and don't get enough sleep, but even when I'm well-rested, fed, and happy, there's still pressure there. To the point that I didn't realize it was there until I started the migraine drugs and realized that ... whoa, is this what it feels like to have a normal head?

The migraines have lessened in frequency now that I take vitamins on a regular basis, so I think I can finally separate them from this other head pain. Plus, they wander all over my head and this one stays put.

[identity profile] homasse.livejournal.com 2006-08-09 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
When I had migraines so bad I finally saw a doctor, they had me do it for a month. But then again, that was at my college Health Center, frequently nicknamed "The Death Center," so.

And gaaah, that sounds like a bitch. I had one of those in college and thankfully it went away after only a month or so. Longer than that is gaaah.

[identity profile] sclerotic-rings.livejournal.com 2006-08-09 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
Huh? What? When?

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-08-09 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
Yup. That. In about thirty seconds.

Yeay! You're gonna be at AnimeFest! We can finally meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet! :D :D :D

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! :D

Your tutorials are getting a shout-out in my next column - since I was braindead from webpage, I did an annotated list o'links and books instead of anything that required research. XD

See a doctor, cut the junk food. Meditate. Relax. Try herbal remedies.

Watch hot guys kissing.

Oops, answered poll from role-play journal because I wasn't paying attention. How embarrassing, except not really.

For the chronic headaches, see a chiropractor, in case the pressure is actually caused by the vertibrae at the base of your neck being slightly out of alignment. I had chronic headaches from that for years. That kind of thing is chiropractors' speciality and it treats the cause of the problem instead of the symptoms, but few medical doctors refer people to them. :/

Now if only chiropractic could magically fix the rest of my problems, I'd be all set. Alas.

[identity profile] nekonexus.livejournal.com 2006-08-09 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
yeah, what he says. ^_^

also, a chirpractor doesn't have to adjust your neck manually -- they have funky tools called "activators" which also work for those who don't like having their neck/head moved a lot.

Good way to lose a tension headache is to get a good skull massage, relaxing tea and/or soup, then lying down with a cool washcloth over your eyes.

Other than that, you'll have to ask a doctor, and I cannot massage skulls over the internet.

You might consider a chiropractor or massage therapist for your headaches.
