Meme time again!

This is a pretty spiffy little app that plots the locations of your LJ friends. Ganked from [livejournal.com profile] paulafromtwoson.

I'm trying to get all my Livejournal friends' locations plotted on a map - please add your location starting with this form.

It does raise the question of why [livejournal.com profile] mistressrenet is listed as posting from Central Asia north of Tashkent, and why [livejournal.com profile] mundeemo seems to be posting from Chihuahua, Mexico when I know for a fact she's less than five miles from me...

Oh, fuck. I think I must've mixed up my latitude and longitude.

Oh, I dunno ... there's a certain cachet to imagining you in deep Kazakhstan reclining on an embroidered couch in a yurt[1] composing your latest Saiyuki fic on a laptop equipped with wireless satellite access.

[1] or whatever their flavor of nomadic natives use.

Oh, indeed. But my userinfo does say Vermont. XD

Heh. I went to Vermont once, when I was eight. And I had a cat named Vermont. Got her at the same time as another cat, which I named Dakota after a dog I once knew, and Vermont was the only other state I could think of at the time.

Us being in Texas, Dakota and Vermont got shortened (shortened?) to Deacon and Varmint, which sounds like some sort of duo up to no good in a Western buddy flick.

That's beautiful. I have a lot of texas net friends but none of them are anywhere near each other.

There. It is fixy now.

Some people click the general area they are in, instead of aiming for lat and long, and miss because the map isn't close up.

Possible explanation for [livejournal.com profile] mundeemo, but [livejournal.com profile] mistressrenet is in Vermont and the map was showing her in central Kazakhstan. Not quite in the same neighborhood. :)

(ok, she reversed her latitude and longitude.)

[identity profile] kittikattie.livejournal.com 2005-01-14 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that would be backwards.

If anyone should be in Chihuahua, I should be because I can walk across the border within 10 minutes....but I ended up in New Mexico...how'd that happen? :(

Apparently it's not too accurate for some areas. [livejournal.com profile] pickledkiki is in Austin, but it's got her in the middle of nowhere between Austin and the Rio Grande.

It is clearly stated in my live-journal information that I am located in Arlington, TX. Perhaps this meme is psychic and knows that I would love to move to Mexico. Hmmm... very interesting.
