wooo!

totally cool optical illusion.

ETA: It seems to require complicated shapes to look at afterwards - find something like the spines of DVDs or books on a shelf, or miniblinds, or busy patterns on fabric.

it didn't work they way I think it sopossed to work for me, but I did have dark spots on my vision for awhile o-o

I looked at my miniblinds after I stared at it, and they deformed in my vision like Cthulhu himself was ripping through a dimensional barrier right there. XD

It helped that the blinds were on the far side of the room and thus very small in my vision - the big vertical blinds next to me didn't show any deformation.

Speaking of Cthulhu, have you seen Pirates 2 yet? One long tentacle movie.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-07-17 01:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Yup. Saw it the weekend it opened so I could actually read my friendslist, since that was the #1 topic of conversation for four days. :D

Well-done tentacles, though.

Ack. Now I feel seasick. Ooo. I almost didn't make it to the end of the clip, because my vision was going all dark and blurry. :P My bookshelf was warping itself by the time I looked away though, so success! Now I need to close my eyes for a while...*dies*

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-07-17 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
:D It only lasts like 30 seconds, luckily.

I got an afterimage of a rectangle of shifting colors enclosed in a white outline. Was that what was supposed to happen? It didn't exactly rock my world.

The objects you look at after looking at the video start to deform. Try looking at something with a complicated shape, like miniblinds.

It worked! My curtains briefly warped in a creepy manner.

I tried it twice, and only got a bit of a pattern overlay for a couple of seconds. *pouts* (It worked fine for my husband, though.)

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-07-17 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
What were you looking at? I didn't get anything from my vertical blinds, but the DVDs right next to them deformed nicely, as did the edges of the miniblinds across the room and a patterned pillow. It seems to require complicated shapes to do anything other than leave afterimages.

The first time I only looked at my wall, but then Chris said to try something else. The second time I looked at a photograph of people. Hmm.

Maybe something with straight lines?

Tried again, and looked at my bamboo blind. I think maybe it just doesn't work on me. :/ Alas.

[identity profile] unrelatedwaffle.livejournal.com 2006-07-17 06:54 am (UTC)(link)
HOLY CRAP. That was totally unexpected.

Probably not too good for your eyes, though. Better stick to pot.

Hmm. That panicked me by setting up what looked like the spots-before-the-eyes effect I usually only get immediately before a migraine attack. Had to stop watching after about ten seconds, so hopefully before the subliminal commands came on.

[identity profile] awamiba.livejournal.com 2006-07-17 01:15 pm (UTC)(link)
That's exactly what I was going to say. It was like getting a migraine. Couldn't watch it for very long.
