Ug

Why didn't I follow my first impulse and attempt to trade my Saturday shift on the ref desk for Sunday when I found out that my apartment complex was going to be having a live DJ out at the pool today? The party is supposed to be from 2 until 5, but it's 12:30, they're testing, and they've unnerved the cat enought hat she's following me around.

And today I was going to do things like writing. Hah. It's times like this that I wish I had a laptop with wireless, but it looks like I'm going to have to do the low-tech thing of finding paper and pen and going somewhere to sit for three hours. Arg.

P.S. I hate coffee and there's only so much tea I can drink. Coffeehouses are not for me.

I am right there with you. The rest of my writing group likes to meet at Sweet Eugene's, where I invariably end up with an overpriced Dr. Pepper because it's the least offensive thing on their menu.

Hate coffee. Hate hot tea. Would love a proper raspberry iced tea, but they don't know how to make it.

Stupid coffeehouses.

And my secondary problem is that I feel trendy and pretentious. LOOK! I am WRITING! At a COFFEEHOUSE!

I ended up going to TGIFriday's for lunch, where I discovered two important things: 1) what I was going to write about and 2) that their hamburgers are lousy and the fries overseasoned with garlic salt. And then I decamped to the library to grab research material, and the grocery store, and now I'm home, figuring I could stand the last 15 minutes of the DJ. I'm not entirely sure about that last one, though. At least I don't have a headache, like I did during last year's party.
