Anyone here know enough French to translate a short message into French for me? I just got notified that one of my Naruto pieces has been posted on this French site. Nobody's taking credit for it, as far as I can tell, and they haven't bothered to take my signature off, but I'd like them to either give me credit and link to my DA page, or to take it down, and I want to send it in French just to ensure the site admin can read it.

My first rip! I'm so proud! ;) OK, it's not a real rip since nobody's claiming credit, but hey.

Babelfish (http://babel.altavista.com/)?

I'd prefer to send a letter that reads a little more fluently than "Hello my watch! It is to be expecting that you shall to be removal of la bonne artwork a the gallery of you or it is to be connecting a mon page Deviantart!" :)

I can make a go at it.
I will warn you however I'm slogging through directions to sew a skirt which are in French and the words aren't making phrases :/

no... Don't ever use Babelfish. Babelfish turns "chairman of the board" into "seat-man of the plank" and performs other suitably useless translations...

Just posted on my journal to spread the word. :)

P.-S. Don't ever use BabelFish for French... sorry but it looks crappy and you would just end up being ridiculed.

Babelfish

Actually, it's pretty decent for English to Spanish. I had to write a 1/2 page letter to a parent and translate it, so I sent it through babelfish. I had one of my kids check it by giving him both the English and the Spanish translation. He only had to make about 6 edits on it. Two phrases he replaced he said they were ok the original way, but were a bit awkward and would be better using his edits.

well, Babelfish's god-awful in German. incoherent in places, such that the only way to discern the original English is to run the phrase back through and manually re-translate into German. (I would never use Babelfish; i worked on a project with a moron that did, and I had to fix it.) And since this is specifically for French...I've got no frame of reference, really.

But i don't like it.

Your "translation" made me laugh my ass off, which was has welcome moment have I sit here in my freezing apartment where the heat has gone out for the third time in two months, and to which the gas man will supposedly come some time between 7:00 amndt and 8:00 pm. Oh, and my refrigerator defrosted and I had to throw out all my food and I can't get any more because I'm waiting for the gas man.

...Wow, that was a startlingly comprehensible Babelfish translation.

"Hello my watch! It is to Be expecting that you shall to Be removal of good the artwork has the gallery of you gold it is to Be connecting has my Deviantart page!"

OK, I'll shut up now.

Right, I tried to translate those sewing directions, just hoping for coherency, and half of the words were translated literally which missed the meaning for the context and made the directions useless, 1/3 of the words weren't even translated, and the others were grammatically -weird- when put into English.
