Hmm... (BPAL thoughts)

The Lab just updated, although no moon because they're in the middle of moving premises. You'd think I'd learn to read the entire site first. Lotus Moon is up. (P.S. to [livejournal.com profile] kintail - there's two new scents going into Ars Draconis, and there will be two more added later this year. General catalog, so no need to get them immediately. :D)

They've added a new section called the Salon, which feature perfumes inspired by art. Having not learned my lesson from the previous decant circle, would there be six others out there interested in trying the Salon scents?

There's a slight catch - it's going to cost slightly more than last time, because the bottles cost a bit more ($23.00 instead of $15 - they're using some more expensive ingredients with these). My basic thoughts on the breakdown is: 10 bottles x $23.00 = 230. + 12.50 shipping from the Lab = 242.50. Each package I ship out is sort of roughly $2.50 for the packaging and postage (I may be overestimating there, but it's hard to say). Adding $15 (6 x 2.50) to the total produces $257.50. ROunding to $260 to make it easier and dividing by 7 (me plus six of you) produces ... $37.14 .. eh, round down to a total of $37/person...

... oh, hell I forgot the cost of imps. Um .. they're about $ .17-.20/imp, so add $2.00 to that -- $39.00/person

Yeah, last time I didn't realize I was going to be getting 7 to 7.5 imps per bottle and based my calculations on 5 imps. :D

So ... are there 6 people besides me who would like to try these scents? We don't have to decide immediately - I think they're permanent additions to the catalog.

ETA: People who are in - when the total hits 7, that's it, because I doubt I'll be able to get another 7 people for a second set. :D

I'm in, if you'll have me.

Sure! *goes to make a list on the post*

[identity profile] mscongeniality.livejournal.com 2006-05-13 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
Enh, only one or two of those interest me. I'd possibly be interested in individuals but don't think it's worth it for a whole set.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-05-13 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
:D There's people who do circles where others order bits and bobs here and there, but that seemed an awful lot like work to me to keep track of all of that. XD

But if the circle makes, keep watching my journal - I'll invariably sell most of the imps for not agreeing with me. XD

[identity profile] mscongeniality.livejournal.com 2006-05-13 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I'm sure I will. I've still got to go back and find people selling the maelstrom stuff I decided I actually liked, first though.

Once, you know, I'm not poor and stuff.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-05-13 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
:D I'm slightly amused at the sales on the communities and eBay where they're calling the Maelstrom scents rare. They're not rare yet! They're everywhere! Come back in a year and then call them rare!

[identity profile] mscongeniality.livejournal.com 2006-05-13 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
But this is the intarweb...add enough hyperbole and they'll actually believe it!

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-05-13 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
Heh. Yeah, there will always be someone who thinks that it's rare.

OTOH, I just dropped $15 on HALF an IMP of a truly rare blend - a discontinued blend called Bruja. It's myrrh and amber, which are two of the OMG BEST EVAR scents on me, and I've been jonesing to try it. I make myself feel better about it by reminding myself that the woman selling it has a lot of financial issues right now (health, and they're buying a house) and really does need the money. :D I did refrain from bidding again on another rare imp on her auction that I got outbid for, though.

[identity profile] mscongeniality.livejournal.com 2006-05-13 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
Heh...$15 is not so much to spend on something you truly want or will get use out of. Besides, you'd pay more by the ounce for most 'commercial' perfumes anyway. See? No justification needed. ;-)

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-05-13 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
I like the way you think!

Anyway, I suspect I'd probably be able to get back most of what I spent on it on eBay or one of the communities if it turned out not to work. But myrrh! And amber!

I am an expert at making my frivolous spending make sense. Besides, it all works out in the long run.

Debating on the decant circle, but was amused to see the "Satan and Death with Sin" painting as part of their inspiration. That lives at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, across from my office, and I was just admiring it last weekend. :-) (Sadly, that's only the third time I've been to that museum in almost two years here)

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-05-13 05:39 am (UTC)(link)
:D It's a Sign!

I've been to that museum, I think - at least I think it was that one that had the van Gogh exhibit. I was at a conference in LA at the time, and we got specially priced tickets and had some sort of soiree. I mostly remember beign impressed that the exhibit text was put above the paintings, so you could stand back and read it, instead of trying to crowd in near the painting to see.

It's a lovely museum that I don't take advantage of nearly enough. I appreciate the La Brea tar pits, since I walk past those on my way to and from work, but I don't go the extra 50 yards to go into the museum, unfortunately.

Er. The lobby has good lattes, though! (I'm such a philistine...)

[identity profile] cerusee.livejournal.com 2006-05-13 07:09 am (UTC)(link)
I'm in, if you can find enough for the circle.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-05-13 05:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Cool. :D *adds to list*

[identity profile] rushthatspeaks.livejournal.com 2006-05-14 06:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Probably in, but I need to think about the financial bits a little-- I have a monthly budget, and this'll be fine as long as I can work it into the budget for June, but if I'd have to send the check in May I'm not sure I can justify it.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-05-14 06:29 pm (UTC)(link)
June would probably be better for me, too. :D I'll put you in as contingent.

[identity profile] rushthatspeaks.livejournal.com 2006-05-14 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks!

Ooo, thanks for the heads' up on the new Dragon scents. That one with the sandalwoods looks good... I recently purchased an imp of "Dragon's Bone" for the sandalwood but unfortunately it was overwhelmed by the floral, so back into the swap pile it went.

I'll opt out of the decant circle, though.
