What? Edit my previous entry instead of making a new one? The HELL you say!

For thsoe Vienna Teng fans on my friendslist, [livejournal.com profile] jspurlin saw her in Houston and has a review and a photo. :)

I took a whole bunch of photos, and then it occurred to me, a pretty girl sitting at a piano pretty much looks like... a pretty girl sitting at a piano. heh. wasn't a whole lot of moving around, there.

There's enough of the Teng love on my friendslist that they probably wouldn't care. XD

(I've tried to like her, but female vocal+piano just doesn't do it for me, unfortunately. But i know lots of people who do. :D)

*shocked*

I think most of what I like at the moment is female and piano. heh.

female and electronic and piano is pretty much... holy crap, like, ten percent of my music. If Vienna Teng came out with electronic remixes, or vocoder like Imogen Heap -- who I see on Friday, actually, with [livejournal.com profile] mothoc-- I'd be a massive fan of that, too.

I don't do subtleties in music, for the most part. The composers I like are the big, brash, brassy ones and sturm-und-drang ones like Beethoven. In contemporary music, I like a lot of percussion and strong beats. Male vocalists work better for me, because I like deeper voices. I like clever lyrics, too. There's an odd mix of things on my iPod from show tunes to techno to taiko drumming remixes, to classic rock, to 80s pop, and so on.

hmm. subtleties are my thing. There are times when I've listened to a song for the hundredth time and noticed a vvvvvt of fingers sliding against strings, or a vibratoed high part i missed, or some little detail. And then I notice it from then on out.

Clever lyrics, definitely a good thing.

Deep voices, clever lyrics, strong beats-- Ever try Fiona Apple?

:D I like it when you can just see the cavalry thundering over the hill. It might have do with being a kinesthetic and visual thinker more than an aural one - I can feel the movement and almost see a video at times.

I haven't tried Fiona Apple.

I like those, too, but somehow i identify more with elaborate stuff with highs in it...

And you definitely should try her out. "When the Pawn..." is a cool album. Paper Bag is one of my favorite songs of hers.
