Well, the Japanese was "Shinanai de Kudasai", which is relatively polite if you're talking someone down from a ledge, I suppose. I mean, if you wanted to be impolite you could just leave off the kudasai...It's important to say "Please" if someone's going to commit suicide and you don't want them to. It really is the magic word.
