In today's disturbing Saiyuki news...

...[livejournal.com profile] harukami discovered something very disturbing from the original (not the English release) chapter page of volume 5 of Saiyuki.


the real question is - is this a Japanese-publisher decision, or an English-publisher decision to chang it? *eyeballs friendslist*

Like the Wild Adapter pic where Tokitoh's startled look makes much more sense when you realize that Kubota appears to be giving him a hand job just out of frame?

Thanks to your fine tutelage, I noticed the lovely composition of the bunny-fucking pic: Nii's head, the rabbit, the rabbit's crotch, and Nii's crotch forming a straight line, and then Nii's foot pointing toward the condoms, and the whole forming a neat pyramid.

Yep yep. :D I got it. Thought I noted you back, but appearently, it didn't go through..... Yes! A-Kon! First time in Texas too! So, hopefully, I can break even on the trip. (As it is, Jim is incredibly pissed off about the airline thing. Even so, it wasn't like there were any cheaper fares, but it's still a hell of a lot of money for us right now. *sigh*)

I think you should do good - your stuff sold well last year, and you weren't even there. With you there to sell your own stuff, it should sell better. :) Especially if you do con sketches.

Sketches have been hit and miss for me. Some cons they do well...last con, I didn't do a single one.

I reminded Jim of that, that even with just having the stuff on a table, it sold well. I have a lot more this year, with a number of different series now too. Hopefully, that will hold him over for a while. :D (He's just reeeeally stressed right now because he can't find a job and has a wonderful way of taking it out on me. :D)

:D Two years ago I got a goodly chunk of my income from the sketches, but not this last one, because I more-or-less discouraged them. It's way too stressful for me to do them, so unless someone comes up to me and offers me a chunk o'money, I try not to do them.

I understand how the no-job stress thing goes. :D

Yeah, I've done that before. :D I wasn't too disappointed that I didn't get any at the last con.... If I don't know the character at all, it sure as hell is a LOT harder for me to do.

But, if I can keep selling large prints, I'll be in good shape. :D So I think it'll even out in the end (and I'm not on the spot to try and draw some totally random character I've never heard of from some obscure anime that they claim is their favoritest favorite evah, but really know nothing useful about the character.......)

(And volume 5 was the last one Jake did before I took over, so even if it hadn't been a Zero Sum change, I wouldn't have been the one responsible for it. And Jake wouldn't do such a dastardly thing anyway! :-) )

I actually bet she changed that for storytelling reasons. It kind of makes the reveal in Reload 5 of what the bunny has inside a little stronger if we don't already suspect he's doing something to it. I wonder...
