Death Note movie info

...although not much more. Fujiwara Tatsuya is indeed cast as Light, and the comments in the fandom_lounge report I linked to have links to more photos of him. Ryuk's going to be almsot entirely CGI, although that shouldn't be any great surprise to anyone. Rumors abound as to the rest of the cast, but nobody know for sure, it seems.

I can see that...

50?

"Owing to the large amount of digital FX, which necessitates much time-consuming greenscreen work, DEATH NOTE has a slightly longer than normal shoot, running for nearly 50 days."
50 days? I thought movies took months/years to shoot? 50 doesn't sound like a whole lot to me but if there is backing by Warnerbrother and a longer shoot time, it will hopefully be high quality.

It's Japan. They took "working overtime" to all new limits.

*Actual* filming doesn't take that long, especially if you're not as obsessive-compulsive as Stanley Kubrick or you're not having actors do a lot of stunts or greenscreen work - usually a matter of a few weeks. It's the pre-production and the post-production that takes a very long time, and why movies are in production for a long time.

You know, I don't even like Death Note that much, but I think I'll be seeing that movie. Hellooooooooo, Tatsuya-kun.

If they get rid of Ooba's rambling and plot slowdowns, it could be a well-plotted, tight thriller. :D
