One thought before I crash...

You know what the most annoying part of this knee injury is? Taking the elevator up and down one flight of stairs. The doctor didn't take me off *all* stairs, but I've figured out that if I do stairs in the afternoon, when my knee starts hurting more, they're No Fun At All. But I feel all Western and decadent for doing it, especially since there's nothing wrong with me to the naked eye.

So I tend to exaggerate my limp and lurch on and off the elevator in case anyone's looking. XD Probably looks really odd if they've just seen me coming down the hall, and makes me feel like the dog we had growing up after she stepped on burrs. She'd limp if anyone was looking at her, but if she didn't think anyone was, she'd walk normally.

*Knee* *injuries* *suck*.

And yeah, I know you feel with the one flight of stairs thing.

I suspect there might be a small bidding war around my friendslist for them. XD Send 'em to me, and I'll see what I can do with 'em - I just had visions of a small charity auction. :)

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-01-26 02:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Directly from the expert on that, there. XD Yah, and this one isn't even really bad, by any means, it's that I know from experience how bad it can *get* if I don't take care of it now.

I have to go upstairs in half an hour for a meeting, and I'll probably take the stairs out of annoyance, but at least it doesn't seem to be as bad in the mornings as it is the the afternoons.

Your DOG played up its injuries when there was an audience?!? Now THAT was one smart critter! (One manipulative bitch as well, I'll grant, but *smart*!)

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-01-26 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, yes. She was so funny. XD She'd be walking along behind Dad, look up at us, and then start limping again.

She also wasn't allowed up on the couch (big dog - a black Lab) but would get up there when we were gone, leaving behind a nest of black hair, of course, so we'd know. And you can't punish a dog if you don't catch them, because they can't associate the punishment with the crime. But we eventually found out that if we, right after we came home, walked over to the suscpiciously-dented couch cushion, placed a hand on it and still felt the warmth, and gave the dog a Look, she'd get this guilty, pleading aspect to her posture. XD

oooooh charity, for what. now -i'm- interested.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-01-26 07:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I was thinking the charity that the con I used to work at always gives teh proceeds of their charity auction to - it's local to Bryan-College Station, TX, but is a good one. Scotty's House (http://www.scottyshouse.org/), a child advocacy center. They do things like offer a somewhat homey place for kids who are being interviewed by police and lawyers for forensic purposes to be taped in (one person, who has a wire in his or her ear, talks to the kid while the police and lawyers and whatnot invovled watch on a closed-circut TV from the next room and talk to the interviewer over the wire), and they provide an examination room - the hardest part of the tour they give us when we pass the check over to them each year is the miniature OB/GYN table. They offer counseling and play therapy and support groups and so on.

Anyway, seemed appropriate for Hakkai and Gojyo, Gojyo having been abused, and Hakkai having been a teacher. :) I figure doing it the same way that charity auctions are done over on the BPAL community - bids posted, and the final winner either sends the money to me via Paypal to donate, and I send 'em the plushies, or they write the check and fill out the donation form and send it in themselves, then email me a copy of the receipt and I send 'em the plushies.

I'd normally trust everyone on my friendslist without the proof, but if I mention it to the Saiyuki list or it gets out farther, then there's the possibility of getting people I don't know that I can't trust to send it in, and those who don't know me and can't trust me to send in the money.

i really think that sounds amazing. like. seriously. so if you want, send me over your addy and once i can scrounge up some shipping i'll send them your way (and let you know, of course)

they've been sitting in my closet for like, uh, wow, almost three years now. i had my fun with them and they're still in pretty good condition, they only thing they -don't- have tags.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-01-26 07:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure, no prob. I can send you shipping if you want - let me know. :)

*off to email*

[identity profile] tokyoghoststory.livejournal.com 2006-01-26 08:04 pm (UTC)(link)
ahhh i'm megabroke so, ;__; its up to you if you want to wait til i can muster up some cash

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-01-26 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Not a problem, as I said in the email - there's a balance in my Paypal, if you've got that, and I can send ya cash if not. Will they fit in the Priority Mail $8.10 flat-rate shipping box (http://shop.usps.com/cgi-bin/vsbv/postal_store_non_ssl/display_products/productDetail.jsp?OID=4849213)? (I say, having no clue what size the plushies are)

[identity profile] tokyoghoststory.livejournal.com 2006-01-26 08:26 pm (UTC)(link)
oh yeah. maybe something even smaller.

they are the two from this set

http://www.animemate.com/products/Saiyuki/images/tn_saiyukiplush2.jpg
http://www.animemate.com/products/Saiyuki/images/tn_saiyukiplush3.jpg

but i can't find anything to size and my ruler is dumb, it only goes to 15 centimeters -_-

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-01-26 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
OK, cool. They may even fit in the smaller $4.10 box, then. (The good thing about priority mail is that the box itself is included in the cost of postage. XD AND you can tell the post office to send the boxes to you for FREE - you pay the postage at the time you mail.)

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-01-26 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
ah-ha - back-forming the URL and the page about the plushies says they're 7.5" tall. :D So, yeah, less than $10 to mail them. And it might as well be priority - the box plus postage for first class will be roughly the same amount as priority.

[identity profile] tokyoghoststory.livejournal.com 2006-01-26 08:44 pm (UTC)(link)
i am far more lazier than you. so should i take them to the post office (i live right next to one) or gather one from the site? and which one? ahhh, the joys of mailing.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-01-26 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
PO's easiest. You can only get them in lots of 25 from the website - I've got a lot on its way to me, which I decided to do after finding out that my local PO didn't have the size I needed when I needed it. Not that I'm going to use 25 priority mail boxes, but if you buy and print out the mailing label online, you get free delivery confirmation. I'll have to start putting stuff on eBay just to use up the boxes. XD

[identity profile] tokyoghoststory.livejournal.com 2006-01-26 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
i'll head to the post office in the next few days and let you know how much it cost me then, super xD

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-01-26 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Cool! XD
